It says a lot that he requested two former Presidents who both beat him in an election to speak at his funeral.

The ERA of hate filled, petty, mean spirited conspiracy theory, ALL of them discounted but still carried on and I suppose we should sympathize with those so easily manipulated as these folks are.

But, it manifest the true and honest soul of those folks.

Yep, that would be the decent thing to do.

John McCain and I were members of different generations, came from completely different backgrounds, and competed at the highest level of politics. But we shared, for all our differences, a fidelity to something higher – the ideals for which generations of Americans and immigrants alike have fought, marched, and sacrificed. We saw our political battles, even, as a privilege, something noble, an opportunity to serve as stewards of those high ideals at home, and to advance them around the world. We saw this country as a place where anything is possible – and citizenship as our patriotic obligation to ensure it forever remains that way.

Few of us have been tested the way John once was, or required to show the kind of courage that he did. But all of us can aspire to the courage to put the greater good above our own. At John’s best, he showed us what that means. And for that, we are all in his debt. Michelle and I send our most heartfelt condolences to Cindy and their family....

Why am I not surprised that the Russian media (totally controlled by Putin)...hated McCain also?

Burning in hell: Russian press sheds few tears for McCain

Yep, he was a thorn in their side for many years. Great stories about somewho wanted to be in his campaign staff, but wanted concessions FOR Russia, and "lighter" words about Russia. McCain showed them the door.

The flags at the White House is no longer at half staff. It was flown at half staff for less than 48 hours. The flags at the U.S. Capitol are still flown at half staff and will continue until his internment.

There is another thread that is discussing just that issue.

I have found the last few days to be very sad relative to our government and the leadership reaction to losing such a man as McCain.

And this once quiet friendly board to talk with each other, simply has shocked me.

Having people go way way out of their way to demean a man whose politics you may not like, but nothing but a class honest character man......to go out of your way to dig and dig to demean him is simply not my America at all nor the way this board used to be.

The lack of criticism for some of the posts yells loudly to me. Those who will criticize posters for misspelling Sumter or some other minor offense simply go silent, which we all know is not SILENT but a loud approval of those actions.

It is truely sad that we have come to this......mean spirited, spiteful actions are for children.......I recall the many who argued loudly with each other in congress for years, with never ever a personal attack and who could then put their arms around each other and pledge allegiance to our country.

We can wish all good things to the dictator killer IN Korea, we can wish well to the killer in the former soviet BUT we can't even allow a real honest American hero to rest in peace.

At first angry, now very sad
