Default Radio reception

Could anyone tell me how to get better am radio reception here at TV. I can only get static on my radio and do miss my am stations. Would also like to find an Asian Market close to TV. Can anyone help me out?

MM, In the Mallory house (concrete block) I had to put a Winegard FM antenna in the attic. There is so much metal in the homes that it seems to deflect the signal. Put up an antenna and you'll be fine. Mine was around $70 plus cable and installation.

AM as opposed to FM is notorious for poor reception due to "static". This catch all word "static" can be from electrical appliances, dimmer switches, outside power lines, on and on. Thus the invention of FM. That being said, and depending on your radio, sometimes a simple wire attached to the AM ant input helps greatly. Again your radio may not be so equipped. Try relocating the radio in different parts of the home and see if the intensity of the static changes. You might even consider buying a quality AM radio with an antenna input to increase the signal to noise ratio
Being a Rush Limbaugh fan I have to get good AM reception also (but we won't go there cause its political ;D

Thanks samhass. Are they hard to install. I live in a oleander and I am not sure there is access to the attic over the bedroom. I will have to do some research on this. Thanks again.

SAM! Your so high tech, it wouldn't surprise me if you had one of those new fangled toilets that use the correct amount of flushing water according to the amount of deposit ;D

Nope..but the toilet seats and lids go down slowly by themselves. Does that count?

We got decent FM reception just by pulling up the antenna on the back of the boombox (which when we were last at TV was the only radio we had there; will add a 'real' stereo in the future). Didn't try AM--had no particular reason too--on top of which it is, as pointed out, notorious for static.
