Exclamation Retirement Ideas

Looking for some unique or normal retirement 'things to do'. Please reply with a list of no more than 5 ideas. Does not matter what the idea is - be normal - be imaginative and creative. It does not matter if it is hard to do or costs a lot of money - just list the ideas. Make some simple and everyday things and make some life altering thoughts. I will share the top ideas at a later date.

I can't answer your question as everyone is unique in what they consider being retired. I retired at 56 and am now 73, all I can tell you is I have been busier since retiring than I was working and it never ends. I have lists of things I have to do that never seem to get done. My hobbies have always been being in the wilderness, hunting, fishing, RV'ing, boating, anything to do with the outdoors (which is why I was drawn to Fenney), model trains, working in the yard, gardening, keeping my cars detailed, etc. Down here in TV there are hundreds if not thousands of things to do but I don't have the time to get involved for some reason. I'm not complaining, I am very happy with my retired life and you most likely won't be sitting on a sofa watching TV after you retire. Good luck to you and stay healthy.

Live aboard a sailboat and go cruising. You can go anywhere in a sailboat. Kind of like RV'ing, but more complex. Then move ashore and declare, "The best part of my life was spent cruising." To quote someone close to me.

I started fly fishing, and found I had a talent for tying flies.
I have a Canadian friend who at the age of 66 went to a wood carving class just to see what was going on, and within two years was winning wood carving competions. Once chance meeting, and a gift he did not know he had, discovered.
He is amazing, I am in awe.
Try anything and everything. You just don't know what is inside you!

Continue schedule of cruise at least once every 6 months.

Take at least one RV road trip (4+ weeks) to someplace in the USA we have not been.

Try to participate in at least one event every 6 months that generates some benefit for veterans.

Continue to strive to get as much of the family in one spot at least once per year... 5 children...11 grand children...5 great grand children....major endeavor from all 4 corners of the USA...

Continue with the efforts required to accomplish becoming centenarians celebrating our 80th wedding anniversary!!!

- Travel as much as you can afford to.
- Spend time with family and friends
- Find a cause or causes you feel strongly about and volunteer your time and talent to that cause(es)

One of the lyrics to one of my favorite songs sums it up well: "Who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone."

Tongue in cheek time:

Attend as many free dinners as possible where they are out to sell you annuities, timeshares, hearing aids, cemetery lots, cremations, long term care insurance, sell you life insurance, buy back your life insurance policies at a discount, and so on.

Clip coupons off bonds if you are wealthy, for groceries if you are not. I have read of folks who are so good at using coupons they pay almost nothing for groceries.

Only eat dinner out at 3:00 p.m. to get early bird special prices, use coupons and always ask for senior discounts.

Chat up the checkers in grocery stores to hold up the line so others have to wait longer.

Sit in restaurants for hours after finishing your meal to keep the booth or table from others.

Shop Goodwill, St. Vincent de Paul and other thrift stores, go to garage and yard sales, and buy donated books for $1.00 each at public library sales. Resell what you get for far more on eBay. This is actually great fun!

Sleep late or get up early, your preference.
