Default Is it safe for large groups to start up in rec centers?

Many groups as large as 50 setting dates to resume activities.

I cannot imagine trading 7 months of sacrifice and "hunkering" down for getting back together with a social group.

Upwards to 50 people, with masks and 6 feet apart, huffing and puffing in a closed room for up to two hours.

I question the decision making. I understand it is to each his own, but personally, we remain conservative until a vaccine becomes available. We are at this point in time acclimated to an adjusted life style.

Other opinions welcomed.

I agree.

As much as we'd like the club activities to resume, it's just not worth the risk. There are too many new positive tests being reported in the tri-county area for us to feel comfortable.

Hopefully those that believe that they are immune to covid-19 and can resume living their life as they had been stay safe

We have been wondering about this as well.

Thought of going to a zumba session this morning but have decided to wait a bit and see how everything goes

If everyone is wearing a mask and staying socially distant how risky is it really?

Except neither are required at the rec centers....so I assume it's still risky. I'm still trying to understand what changed since March, seem whenever they reduce the masks and social distancing numbers go up, the only thing that seems to have changed is there may be better treatment, but still seems risky to me. Our clubs are continuing to use zoom for meetings.

Will go to one probably in a week or so but if masks are not required than we will do an about face and take off.

I'm wondering how many of the volunteer instructors will be returning? My wife is friends with a dance teacher who said she won't be holding classes until January at the earliest.

Seems like everyone has to make their own decision.

My opinion:
I would LOVE to play cards again at the Rec Center. However, I have spent the last 6-7 months avoiding places where I could be exposed. Given the fact that there hasn’t been a major outbreak in TV, so has everyone else.

IMO, I can’t manage the actions of a crowd that big and have decided to wait. Given that we’re moving into the winter months, there will be an influx of seasonal people who may or may not feel the same way.

I’d just hate to see an outbreak here when we’ve done so well so far.

Well, given vaccines may be little more than 50% effective and less than 50% of people in the US polled say they will get the vaccine - things may not get may not get significantly lower risk than they are now. So may be time to move on at the risk level individuals are comfortable to take.

I'm not going to rec centers and also not playing men's day either when they start Oct. 20. I prefer to live and will wait for the vaccine next year.

I think full hazmats etc for participants should be a requirement ... CDC put out new information just now, Covid spreads MOST airborne which like cigarette smoke, stays in the air and recirculates inside, except unlike smoke it kills quickly.
Don’t be afraid of Covid, but be smart about it. Control it!

You know what some will say, “ If you’re too scared to join a group, stay home! Some of us want to get back to living!”
...and Covid will go on, and on, and on....

And some want to get back to living LONGER!
The notion of staying home being equated to being scared is a inconsiderate reference toward one's personal decision that happens to differ.
