For years everyone has paid these charges on their land line and wireless bill to supply phones for the needy. But Vets are not included, as we found out recently.
Another example of: if it sounds too good to be true, it isn't.
Possibly some veterans living on social security might meet the minimum income requirement for the phone.

If the Safelink representative was set up in the lobby of the American Legion, why didn't the Commander or someone else question it or investigate it to find out the real story? And to kick the scammer off the property!

The American Legion also should have had a warning about the scam put in the Daily Sun. It sounds as though it has been happening nationwide. The Legion magazine should have had a warning about it, too.

The post that contained Nugent's information was very helpful.

More than likely each sale they made resulted in a fee back to the American Legion... I am an American Legion member but that's just the way it happens....
