It just shows how contagious this virus is. Even those that followed the guidelines went out for groceries and takeout.

I think that this is a pretty damn good likely explanation. Yes, most of the buildings seem to be condos, high rises in NYC and ONE infected person, through HVAC system can contaminate everyone else in that building. Also high rises really are similar to cruise ships.

Think about the spread in nursing homes, prisons, ships, and multifamily households. Your viewers need to know it’s more than just washing hands.

Governor Cuomo talked about 66% Covid-19 admissions are from people who stayed home. New Yorkers live in close quarters and in apartment buildings that share plumbing supply lines. Covid-19 fecal fume transmission makes sense.

Bloomberg article explains transmission.

"novel coronavirus is shed in the feces of infected people"

"...microbes...are inhaled"

"live virus particles in stool specimens indicates a fecal-oral route for coronavirus, which may be why it’s caused outbreaks on cruise ships...Diamond Princess..."

Here is a presentation that identifies the oral-fecal method of transmission.

The inhaled virus-laden fecal plume transmission must be told! You can handle it.

Hey, stay out of public restrooms!

You gotta be kidding me.

Very contagious. If you take national deaths and divide by cases you get 6%. 75% of the total deaths nationwide are over age 65. In Fl. deaths divided by cases is 4.2%. So 75% of 4.2 is 3.15%. If you take Sumter, Marion, and Lake together, you get 4.9%. Then 75% of that is 3.7%. So, 3.7% of the people you run into daily in the Villages area will probably die before this is over. CV IS very deadly!

And after they run antibody tests on everybody the death rate will be less than 1%

We will see. The worst will be our peers in age.

The very first time I ever listened to De Santis was after the Spring Breakers went on the beach. I was very upset, more than upset really. He sorta came off like a wimp. I liked the Governor before him because with Scott you knew exactly what was happening. De Santis is not the communicator Scott was.

He has since won me over a bit. He is just a different easier communicator. Was he a Brain Surgeon who saved us with the things he did or did we save ourselves by mostly doing the correct and recommended things? Time will tell.

The establishments around The Villages who did the wrong thing or permitted the wrong thing to occur on their property will never see a nickel of my money after this is done and over with. I would imagine some others feel the same way.

Stay Safe. Peace Out!

While I agree about how contagious and deadly this disease is (and take issue with those who think their "rights" trump steps to prevent them from transferring the disease to others with possible lethal consequences), I'd like to correct your math. Using your figures, 3.7% of people you "run into" will NOT "probably die." Your 3.7% figure is for those over 65 who CONTRACT the virus. (The actual number is closer to 10%.) The contagion rate for Sumter County is about 0.2 %. So, using your figure of 3.7%, mortality is about 0.0074% of the people you meet, less than 1/10 of 1%. But I still do not like those odds.

To those of us in TV staying home is in our house.
Ditto for locations with single family dwellings.

Staying home in NYC very well means in a multi floor, multi family apartment/condo type building.

Totally different exposure profiles.

When I heard Cuomo say that the unemployed and retired people who were hospitalized In NYC had stayed at home I laughed out loud. No one in NYC ever “stays at home.” Not really. Not in isolation. They have housekeepers, caregivers, spouses, children, and others coming in and out. They go out to exercise, walk their dog, pick up takeout, go to the grocery, pharmacy, bank, and many other instances that have remained open since they were deemed essential services. Every time they go out they touch elevator buttons, breathe shared air in elevators or stairwells, touch shared handrails, doorknobs, call buttons...city dwellers are immersed in germy stuff everywhere. They are not isolated from the minute they step outside their door, even if they were alone inside. They don’t stay home. Many don’t ever cook. Studio apartments may not even have a real kitchen. Most don’t own cars so they have to rely on rideshare, taxis, buses and subways. Cuomo thinks people stay at home just because they don’t have to go out to work. He sure imputes a lot of statistical nonsense.

So let's see, 150,000 villagers times 3.7% equals 5500 deaths in The Villages. So far there's been maybe 20 or so. That's about 10 per month since it started here. If it lasts two years you get 240. Isn't math wonderful?

They may be retired or unemployed but someone in the household left the house or they wouldn't have it. It's transferred from person to person for the most part. Someone left the house or brought something into the house that was contaminated.

So your saying it was good decision by the Governor of NY to send sick Corona-19 people to stay in the most concerned elderly nursing homes. While the Jacob's Javtis Convention Center and the Navy ship with thousands of empty hospital beds sit in NY and wait for patients that never came?

Early on when the stay-at-home and 6 ft suggestions were made New Yorker's did not listen they were outside, Period ..
