Didn’t get that close to it, but thanks for the info!

Did a little research, they are not poisonous. They can be confused as a copperhead.

Corn/Red Rat Snakes are good to have around. They live on Mice/small rats etc.. Black racers the same. They can bite if provoked. But if they have a chance to escape away from you they will take that route most of the time.

They're the good snake, don't kill. They like the smell of gas, like spiders.

That is why I went to a charcoal grill. All holes covered. No way for anything to get in or out. Always liked charcoal better anyway.

Good plan. We also have about 5 ft black snake out back in the bushes.

Sounds like a Indigo snake, non poisonous. Snake has nasty bite.

Well, now I know I can be certain my Ex will never move to TV! He hates snakes & will do anything to avoid them. Those photos are a great deterrent, thanks! :)

Have your cats & dogs interacted with the snakes? My dog (a terrier) eats everything, including every bug she finds. I worry that she would try to eat a snake. A cat might think it’s a fun toy, too.

Good way to have your morning coffee without drinking any, or to go to the bathroom & not really having to go, LOL. Corn snakes are NON poisonous but best not to get near because they look so much like a Corral snake, VERY poisonous!

Got to fly my pedant flag here.

There are no poisonous snakes. Not in the US. Not in the world. Poisonous means if you eat, touch, or smell a substance that it can harm you. You can touch or eat any snake, if you so choose. A tiny exception is the keelback snake in SE Asia. It eats poisonous toads then secretes that toxin in its own glands. Poisons are defensive. Touch me and you'll die or eat me and you'll die. So leave me alone. Monarch butterflies are poisonous.

Venoms are offensive weapons used by animals to kill or harm. Venoms are usually injected by fangs or stingers. Wasps and spiders are venomous as well. Copperheads are venomous snakes but not poisonous snakes.

I now remove my schoolmarmish hat and bid you adieu.

Whatever kind of snake, I’m not crazy about them. First thing I did was buy a couple of nice long padded tongs just incase. Haven’t seen any snakes of any kind so far.

I do not enjoy snakes at all... so a question back to Bjeanj, do you live near a pond or some woods or something where the snake(s) may have came out of?

No, not at all. Have a few bushes out back but that’s all.

Moth balls. Snakes don’t like moth balls
