Got to Upstate NY right after the 24 inch storm on thursday. So sunday saw a little more. Nice, but I had enough. Miss my Florida sunshine.

That is why I stay here in the sun. Well most days in the sun. I really hate snow.

I love snow. Watching it on television and Facebook from Florida is one of my favorite parts of winter.

Could be 34 degrees Thursday night, pass the kool-aid. Can't wait for Ded 28th when I rent my home out to the snowbird and move to Costa Rica for three months. I will leave for the weather which is in the 80s every day, 12 hours of daylight, the beach almost every day, golf once a week. I Will return when the crowds leave and the tee time prices return.

Unfortunately, we're making that trek later this week, and not looking forward to it! We'll be trailing the new 'Christmas Week' storm by a day or so. Ugh!

Remember
Do you remember snow blowing the driveway only to have the plows go by and push the snow back in front. Or trying to open the garage doors and trying to plow through the driveway to get to the road. Hearing the roads are closed. Getting up on the roof and pushing the snow off. How about putting on the heavy coats and boots just to go to the store? When you were in high school going around and shoveling driveways? When you lived in the Country waiting for the school bus and freezing and then when you got home
walking the distance to get home and warm. When you were in college, applying to the Post Office for a Christmas route and part time job? And sitting by the radio to see if school had been cancelled? These are just some of the reasons to move to Florida and enjoy those retirement years pondering what it was and what it can be? |

We had a good old fashion Noreaster that started last Wednesday night and went right through Thursday morning. I attached a some pictures taken once the storm stopped. If I was thirty years younger I would have spent last Wednesday night sleeping in the back of my Subaru wagon in the parking lot of Killington, Vt. so I could be on the first chairlift carving first tracks through the powder. Those days are over with old cranky knees.
I very much enjoyed this storm for several reasons. It was the light fluffy stuff, no ice or rain mix. We will have a white Christmas. It's easier to track deer in the snow. But most importantly, I enjoyed this storm because it will make me appreciate all the more packing up the sleigh right after the holidays and heading south to the Villages for the rest of the winter. Merry Christmas |

Snow, what is snow?

Snow comprises individual ice crystals that grow while suspended in the atmosphere, usually within clouds, and then fall, accumulating on the ground where they undergo further changes. It consists of frozen crystalline water throughout its life cycle, starting when, under suitable conditions, the ice crystals form in the atmosphere, increase to millimeter size, precipitate and accumulate on surfaces, then metamorphose in place, and ultimately melt, slide or sublimate away.

Love watching the snow fall, going out at 3 am in the quiet of the night for walks. The freezing rain is pretty until you have to switch over the generator, or drive.
My fourth year in TV for winter, it’s just weird not seeing Holiday Decorations and white fluffy snow. Maybe next year I will convert. My other half is here for the first winter, watching the snow fall from the outdoor cameras just isn’t the same. But going to Disney couple times a month without getting on a plane helps |

When I was young in upstate NY, I would get so excited at the prospect of a beautiful white Christmas. Then many years later after moving to Georgia, and it was rare for a small snow fall at all during the year, there was still some excitement getting to see and feel the snow again...well I can officially say I’m over it, and very content at viewing Christmas decorations from our golf cart! It’s just as “cool” as seeing them in a foot of snow as a kid...
