They have no competition. So who can stop them?

We email instead of send letters. We do our bill paying via the internet or by direct deposit. We use UPS/DHL/etc for packages because they get there faster and in good condition.

If they would start charging the bulk mailers/catalog people a fair rate, we would not pay so much for our first class mail.

And you want another post office in TV. How do you expect to get it without raising prices?

An aggravating issue with the USPS is that stupid "Forever" stamp. My niece gave me a really nice wooden stamp dispenser a couple years back. Consequently, I had to start using a roll of stamps instead of books. So the forever thing comes out with all the attendant publicity and I go to the PO to get a roll. Sorry, it doesn't come in the rolls, only in the neat little books. But I did have a choice of pretty stamps in the roll. Now I gotta get a half sheet of $.01's.

And aren't "Forever Stamps" are really dumb idea, business-wise?
And did you ever wonder how much money the USPS makes on stamps that people buy and never use?
And do any private individuals, i.e., not businesses, ever use the +4 Zip code on anything other than PO boxes?

If you have the Forever stamps they are good until they run out. That is the purpose of the Forever stamps. You do not need to put the extra .01 cent stamp on them.

In fact, if you use a lot of stamps, it would benefit you to go out and buy more Forever stamds at the .41 cent price before the new ones go on sale for .42 cents on May 12th.

The point was that the Forever Stamps do not come in rolls. The largest package of such stamps is a book of 20. In order to use my spiffy new wooden stamp container (and not insult my pretty little niece), I had to buy stamps by the roll, ergo $0.41ers. Now, being stuck with about 50 stamps, I'll need a wad of one centers.

I hell being a fantastic uncle! 040 :2cool: :#1:

I have 3 kinds of stamps right now. One says 41 cents. Pretty obvious that I will have to add a 1 cent to those in May

One type says "forever First class". I hope I can use it as it says--Forever.

Then I have a roll. They show an American flag and only say "First Class". They do not show any value and do not say forever. I am hoping I can use them forever. Guess I will know come May.
