I’m back in Colorado for holidays - after two days of temps below zero, we just now got above zero - can’t wait to get back home to TV.

75,000 people in MA without electricity, and temps into the single digits tonight . . . time of restoration for many places is 11 PM Saturday night. . . and highs tomorrow in the 20s . .

At one of my ex-wife's Christmas party about 40 years ago, I told her that i would not be retiring in MA due to the winters. . . I got an ear full the next day . . . married a more reasonable wife the second time, and we are heading to TV asap!

Here in western MA it rained out all day with heavy winds and all but about 1 inch of the foot of beautiful snow pack melted. Around 7:30 PM the temperature began to plummet and the snow began to fly, we got about 6 inches of snow in the next 45 minutes and then it stopped. It’s now down to 7 degrees and dropping fast. The temperature isn’t forecasted to get above freezing again until who the F cares, we will be in the Villages for the rest of the winter right after what will be a white Christmas. Merry Christmas to all!

Yep, global warming is a real bit**!
Is it PC to use the term Global Warming, or do we now have to use the term Climate Change, so as not to offend?
This GW is likely to kill a lot of my landscaping this year, so it looks like the garden centers will be reaping some profits in the spring. Tens of thousands of folks in many Northern states are going without power due to this storm/freeze. Is it OK to use the term "Northern" to represent any state NORTH of Florida? Or, does that confuse?

I’ve been in ice storms when we didn’t have power for 5 days and us and the cats were still living in the house during the time. The last night in the house got down to 40 and we decided to go to a hotel the next night, then the power came on for 1 day then went back out for 2 days. All of the refrigerator and freezer stuff was out in the snow and we took showers at work.
IMO, I would rather be without power for a few days in the cold temperatures than in the hot temperatures in florida. I can pile on the blankets to keep warm and store all the food outside without issues, but what are you going to do in august here if you lose power? You can’t shed enough clothes off to stay cool and the humidity would be unbearable

We move to Florida because we like the heat. We golf in it, go to theme parks in it, garden and many other activities. If I was up north I would be in bed with the covers pulled up over my head until spring.

From "One Happy Island" to a not so happy east coast, doesn't sound fun. We love Aruba (and its people) and I would probably find a reason, any reason - to stay a few more days. lol Good luck.

As for our current little cold snap here in TV, I just look at the temps where we used to live...and instantly feel grateful to be here.

And riding horses there! And the little ski slope up the road. Yes, thanks for the memories.

They did a great job. Now it is just about the money for their buddies. Oh, let's just change the name to Climate Change.

I am from CT, so I will take a few cold nights in Florida rather than the brutal winter up north. Why I moved down here.

Let’s go already. Come on down!!! We need you down here. Many other people have the same idea of coming south. My brother in law said 95 is absolutely nuts.

I personally have never experienced weather like this before in Florida. It’s incredibly cold and windy and we want a refund due to the garbage weather down here. It could always be worse though. The price of heating oil in N.J. is nuts.

Most of us are from the North at some point. If I may suggest, there are other warm States.
They get no snow. Us Floridians who have grown up here are so over the top with crowding. And when a hurricane comes, you can't even evacuate with too many trying to leave. Texas, S.Ga, S.C are all warm with moderate winters if at all.
