Almost anything California passes I think is ridiculous. And I am not a huge animal person. But requiring a 4x6 pen for a pig where she can lay down does not seem extreme. Why would they not have a herd of pigs in a larger area like a corral rather than confine them to a smaller stall.

A sow with a litter is very protective of them. In a larger pen with other sows you will have them fighting each other and killing other sow's piglets.

Agree, bacon is high. On the other hand, my favorite pork product, baby back ribs, are +/- $3.00 a pound. Saw a whole ham for $1.00 a pound.
