I agree with your Points One, Two, and Your Third point up to the point of subjecting the suspect to the principles of Justice for his crimes. We are the United States of America and our forms of Justice should be applied. With that said Capital Punishment would be an appropriate punishment for this sorry individual.

Currently living in Massachusetts in the Town where Suspect 2 (white cap) attends college (college is approximately 5 miles from my home) and though the manhunt was taking place in Watertown, located 50 miles north, I felt a certain amount of apprehension. This was further elevated by the fact that the University was evacuated and 3 individuals in neighboring New Bedford was taken away for questioning.

I sat glued to the TV and as the day passed into early evening and the suspect was still not apprehended I felt less and less safe and secure, as I wondered could this suspect be returning to the University to seek shelter or worst plan further attacks. Was there a faction of co-conspirators at the University that would assist him?

My point is that this sort of thing does NOT happen in the USA nonetheless in my neighborhood....!!! I felt less safe and vulnerable and wondered how could this Suspect avoid capture with the amount of Police looking for him.

Boy....did I feel a sense of tremendous relief when he was captured and this nightmare was finally over. Kudos to the law enforcement agencies who participated in the capture of these individuals.

I now hope we will learn why they committed these senseless acts.

Who said anything about kindness? He should get a fair trial based upon what is in the US Constitution as well as the Massachusetts Constitution. And be treated like those documents promise. These principles are what set us apart from other countries of the present and past who do not follow such legalities. http://www.malegislature.gov/laws/constitution

He is an enemy combatant and should face a military firing squad. He is not entitled to any "rights" of any kind. He's not a civil criminal, he's a terrorist.

I fully expected the usual "squishy people" to surface and tell us how this evil creep deserves his "rights" and how we need to treat him humanely & give him a hug. I am guessing the people who's lives he ended & ruined in Boston wouldn't think too much about his "rights".

Agreed - this was not a crime - it was a terrorist attack and should be treated as such. Doesn't deserve any civil liberties that come with being a citizen. He is an enemy combatant and should face the military courts and punishment.

The war on terror is "alive and well" in our country and maybe we need to tweek the rules accordingly and not worry about what other countries think of us. Trust me they don't afford the same rights and priviledges to our prisoners of war.

Good to hear from someone who had a very close connection to this tragedy.

Do you expect that the Federal Government will step in and try the second suspect? Massachusetts Law About the Death Penalty

I agree about him being tried by the Fed Gov. MA does not have the death penalty after we are sure there are no more connected to this in any way. I think there needs to be a lot of questions on how Suspect #1 was cleared 2 years ago after we were warned by the Russians no less. We all have to become vigilant as to our surroundings like the people in England. I am afraid we've become a little complacent.
On another note, my brother-in-law was in the ambulance that was on stand-by to take him and went off after a double shift at 8pm and his replacements took him to the hospital. He arrived home just as it was announced at @8:30 that they had him. My cousins and several friends were all "sheltering in place".

Suspect number 2 claims on his Facebook page that his "world view" is Islam. So I don't know why he would object to having justice applied to his case under Islamic or Sharia law. Only seems fair.

Except that in HIS interpretation of Islam (all there are now are interpretations of a religion unless it is one whose leader lives now) he should be praised for doing the will of God. Islam is a very old and very complicated religion. I sincerely doubt if terrorists have a monopoly on the "correct" interpretation of it. It seems more like these brothers were radicalized through various militant Al Qaeda sponsored or with some kind of connections to this group websites.

Unfortunately if you do it that way, creep boy gets a free pass because he was waging jihad against the infidels. Better that they cops had just shot him out from under his wig when they had the chance. Now we have to go through all the wrangling and listen to the whiners who think that creep boy has "rights" or needs to be treated "humanely" or other such bunk.

Except he may be able and willing to provide valuable information - wouldn't want to risk losing that by shooting him.

This thread has also become extremely emotional and volatile with numerous pointed and nasty comments. Since the topic, the capture of suspect 2, is a completed action, this topic has run its course.

New threads can be started on fresh angles to this current events story but we will continue to prune out offending posts and close threads when they become hopelessly derailed.

One can disagree without being disagreeable.
