And it isn't Sweeney who is being criticized, it is the advertisement itself. |

Well, woke strikes again. Their comment about her being racist as only caused the jeans to sell out. They can not keep them in stock because of all the news about her.

I think she was in a show that I watched but I can't recall anything about her. This most likely will draw more attention to her and her acting career. Here's hoping the political aspect of that attention doesn't wind up hurting her. |

Blow my mind how people overthink this commercial |
I rarely wear pants.
Mostly shorts. Never heard of Sidney before. |

The first time I knew of Sydney Sweeney, I was reading news from Key West. She purchased an oceanfront home a year or two ago for 16 million dollars. I think she was doing quite well before this ad.

Not sure what ad you are talking about. |

Had never heard of Sydney until this controversy. Nice ad and she's easy on the eyes

I do find "genes" to be a very loaded word as far as historical, psychological, and sociological contexts are concerned. |
There seems to have been an effort over the last several years to redefine beauty and attractiveness. Regardless of race, some people can be placed in a burlap sack and look good. Others look like potatoes. It doesn't matter how much gaslighting the vocal minority do.

I was with you right up to the last sentence. Cancel culture is still here and gaining steam, it just looks different now and appeals to a different crowd. Pendulums. |
Quote:
Pendulums for sure, but I have seen nothing similar to what you describe. |

What I support is personal responsibility rather than blaming others, patriotism instead of hatred of America, and allowing people to apologize for their (real, not fake outrage) mistakes without having their lives and careers ruined. If you disagree with any of that, I feel sorry for you. |
I looked at the ad after this post, but what she says is true, parents do pass down their genes to their children. And both her eyes and jeans are blue. Sort of like saying the moon is in the sky. And she is happy. No teen angst etc Hey, you want to get offended by it… go ahead.

I support personal responsibility also. I also am also a patriot who proudly served this country for 6 years, part of that time in Vietnam. I, like you, love my country. And I, like you, believe in allowing apologies for mistakes. I also believe in acknowledging our history, good and bad, and going forward to make our country a place where all can feel respected, appreciated, safe, secure, equal and free. |
