Default Taking Tylenol prior to 2nd shot?

Wife and I having second Moderna shot today at noon. I have read all the pros and cons regarding Tylenol before. Local Primary Care says it's ok along with my daughter in law (Dr. with CDC in Atlanta). Any others have feedback or big reason why not to try and avoid reaction. Thanks

Why take something you may not need?

My opinion only. Not medical advice

Taking Tylenol or similar before the shot could reduce the desired reaction in the immune system. “could” make the shot less effective.

I wait until after the shot and reaction starts, then take Tylenol as needed.

Was told by doc to wait two weeks after 2nd covid shot to take any if that stuff, steroids, anti inflammatory, etc as it may reduce the efficacy of the vaccine.

Lots of speculation. No facts.

The immunologist at the clinical trial said the jury is still out on this one so recommend trying to tough it out if possible.

Common questions about COVID-19 vaccinations answered – Mayo Clinic News Network

Is it safe to use fever-reducing pain medications like acetaminophen before or after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine?
Whether you’re receiving your first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, do not take fever reducing and pain medications such as Tylenol, Feverall and ibuprofen before being vaccinated just to prevent reactions that haven’t yet happened. Doing so may dampen your immune response. If you do have a moderate headache or body ache as a reaction to being the vaccinated for COVID-19 , you can take such medications as needed to treat that pain

Exclamation Enough Already!

Would someone please tell me why so many people are making a mountain out of a molehill regarding any of these Covid vaccine shots?

It's a shot, folks, just a shot.
It isn't unlike most other shots, be it a flu shot or whatever.
Stop complaining, stop the rhetoric and get on with your life as though it's any other day.

After my 2nd shot, day 2 was body aches and cold chills all day. Day 3 back to normal. I don't think Tylenol before shot would have changed anything.

From what I read it is not a good idea to take pain meds before the vaccination. Just as it says in the quote above.

Some people have no reaction at all. Why take something you won’t need?

Primary Care and your Dr DIL say its ok. Why would you solicit more opinions from lay people?

Got my second shot (Moderna) last night at Public’s in Ocala. The pharmacist said not to take Tylenol or Advil as it will affect the efficacy of the shot. So far I am feeling fine. A little tired but that’s it. I hope it stays this way. If it doesn’t they tell you to try and tough it out as it will only be for a short time.
