Love Trader Joes. Went to the new one in Gainesville last week. Bought creamy tomato soup (in a box), split pea soup, frozen chicken tacos, wines, dips etc.

Thanks, that explains a lot. I shop mostly for fruit and vegetables at Aldi's and I imagine the produce section wouldn't be all that different from one store to the other.

This is the first I heard of Aldi's, can you tell me where it is, and what you buy there? Thanks

A long time customer of Publix, saying Trader Joe's is overrated unless you know exactly what you want and buy in bulk. It's like going to Sav-a-Lot.

We were addicted to TJs when we lived in CA and thrilled when it came here to the ATL area. Their wine, soups, spices, sausages, crackers .... are all well made and well priced. We will be making visits every time we are back here in ATL and filling the car!

A neighbor served me sweet pickled beets and they were WONDERFUL. She said she had stopped at Trader Joes and bought them there.

It is hard for those of us who have not been to a Trader Joe store to conceptualize.

Please tell us what some of your favorite things are to buy there.

Well Gracie, I was just there today. I go often here where I live. Olive oil, honey. canned black beans, nonfat milk, chicken broth, Brie cheese, brown rice, wild rice, 2 bottles of wine, and Thai yellow Curry sauce. I did not buy any vegies today as we are going to Detroit to visit our daughter and her hubby in a couple of days. So that was my list for today, oh and it all cost me $44.00

Gracie - had my first experiece at TJ's the other day. Was very impressed with the store, what it had to offer, and especially the prices. We bought frozen tuna, salmon and mahi at spectacular prices (and it stayed frozen solid till we got home). Will post after we try it to give an opinion on quality. Bought the $2.99 wine (formerly known as 2 buck chuck) and wasn't impressed, but what do you want for $2.99. Trail mix is outstanding with several choices, mushroom risotto, and a rosemary/raisin cracker to go with some goat cheese I already had. So far happy with my purchase and especially their prices - seem to carry a good amount of unusual items. Looking forward to a return trip; however, 120 miles round trip is a bit much for shopping!

I love nuts and there are large bags of raw, roasted and salted nuts at reasonable prices. Great for snacking, cooking or salads. They make great Tapenades, have great frozen foods ( I love their frozen hor doerves). I also buy Italian sauces but they have many interesting sauces and flavored olive oils and vinegars as well. There are great salted snacks. meats, lunch meats and dairy. Good Greek yogurt and regular kind.
Gracie et. al, you would love the place.

The "three buck chuck" wine is made by Charles Shaw and is actually quite good, but there is a large selection of wine available. This store just has Villages stamped all over it. In Cincy it is locates in Kenwood and caters to the clientele in that vicinity so you know it is quality.

How about a Road trip? We could include lunch and fellowship.

If anyone is interested in a road trip, let me know.

just one more (but very important) reason to love Trader Joes!!

Rejecting Walmart Strategy, Trader Joe's pays a living wage

We are from california and just love Trader Joe's--Now that Sweet Bay decided not to open another store in Brownwood--Trader Joe's would make a wonderful addition to the Villages--Let's get emails sent to the owners petitioning them to get a Trader Joe's for the VILLAGE PEOPLE!

Hopefully our efforts from the past combined with any current emails, etc., will get a Trader Joe's here someday.

(See that "California" at the bottom of my posts, that's where I got hooked on Trader Joe's. See that motorhome in the photo at the top left? That will be headed to California soon for a long visit. Just so we can go to Trader Joe's. Well, not really, lots of friends and family out there including a granddaughter graduating from high school.)

Gracie, Trader Joes is similar to Jungle Jims, only much smaller and better organized. I was in OH last week and drove down SR 4 and noticed that Jungle Jims has changed on the outside dramatically though.. very similar merchandise.

Trader Joes is gourmet and organic. GREAT MEAT no comparison to Aldi. How far would the trip be?

We have Trader Joes in NJ. I can not see why anyone would go out of their way to visit one. Nothing great or wow! about it.
