Having fallen for the sale, it’s time for me to justify the purchase. I have held off on the purchase of a new camera because my seven year old Canon T2i still works and I use my cell phone to take a lot of pictures. However, this deal came to me in an email late yesterday and is still good today.

I have sold computers and other electronics for over 40 years. I always like to have and use the latest equipment as there are always advantages of new over the old. Now that I am retired, the cost of a purchase is at the forefront and the advantage of new to help increase income is not there anymore. I struggled for ten months to make a decision to purchase the new 2017 Canon T7i.

I would like to have a camera with the capabilities of the professional Canon cameras but they cost upwards of three to four thousand dollars. I don’t expect to sell my pictures. In fact, I post pictures of TV taken from the Cub to be used by all for free. I might charge for the TV bathroom pictures but not expecting a lot from that.

The Black Friday special on the T7i was a reduction of price from $900 to $800. I was tempted but held off until yesterday. It was then that they offered me a refurbished Canon T7i with a full one year warranty and free shipping for $500. Now my pictures from the Cub will show TV in greater detail and I can quickly pop in and out of the bathrooms as the new camera is faster.

So, I believe that the purchase of a Canon T7i is a good deal and might be what others might also consider purchasing. Offer valid December 1, 2017 12:00 a.m. through December 2, 2017 11:59 p.m. ET. Here is the link with the details ->

I am not happy with Canon Direct sales. I called today to inquire about my last Friday order of the Canon camera. They are telling me I will not receive it.

It seems that Canon’s ordering system doesn’t reflect the current inventory status when orders are placed. All orders are accepted even if they can’t be fulfilled. They will transmit information to the consumer when an item is shipped but will not inform customers when items are out of stock. In their system, if an item is out of stock the customer’s order is cancelled without any notice being sent to the consumer. I am glad I call!

In my opinion it’s a very poor system and makes me want to avoid any future dealings with them. I will spend my money elsewhere.

I also looked at that camera many times and came close to buying it. I finally went with the Sony DSC-RX100 V 20.1 Megapixel Digital Camera and am happy I did. It takes great pictures, is user friendly and has so many great features. Check it out.

18-55 IS STM lens kit.

That 18-55 one is still $800 at B and H... if that price still tempts you
