I don't think anyone doubts that life, in some form, exists elsewhere. Developing the technology to traverse extreme distances (10s, 100s, 1000s of lightyears) is another issue.

Very true. On our last cruise when someone asked where the ship gets electricity from the capt said they had a very long extension cord from the original port of Ft Lauderdale.
