Default Update to Trying to Adopt a Rescue Dog

Thank you to everyone that responded with advice and suggestions. Thought I would give an update to my situation. First, thanks to Deb for the flyer for the Blessing of the Animals. I printed it out and put it on my calendar. We also took a ride over to PetSmart to see the various pooches from Max’s Pet Connection. We saw Romeo, who was a sweet little guy. The good news (for him) is that he had a pending adoption application and it looked like he was well on his way to finding his forever home. We also saw Ludwig, a very cute Yorkie that, unfortunately (for us) also had a pending adoption going. Even though there were many other dogs available, we weren’t positive that they wouldn’t affect our allergies, so we decided to wait and see what other opportunities would present themselves.

Then, to our surprise, we received a call from the foster dad of the original organization (Poodles and Pooches) that had indicated that we weren’t a good fit because we didn’t have a fence. The foster dad wanted to let us know that the information communicated to us by the foster coordinator wasn’t accurate. While all things being equal, if it was between us and a similar applicant with a fenced yard, then that would be the tie breaker. Not having a fence was not a deal breaker to him. When we got the original notification that we weren’t a good fit, he was still reviewing the few applications that had been received and hadn’t made a final determination. He decided that he would like to meet us and for us to meet his foster dog. We did so earlier today and WE HAVE A NEW MEMBER OF THE FAMILY!!! Our family now includes Buddy, a 3-year-old Yorkie. He is a very friendly, social little guy and we couldn’t be happier!

I love a happy ending!

Buddy is adorable. He is lucky to have found such caring guardians! St. Francis of Assisi is smiling down on you and Buddy.
