Ridiculous changing all of these names.

Of course not. It is the Professionally Offended making all the waves.

It's refreshing to see so many irate, about the stopping/slowing of the thoughtless denigration of minorities. May it continue.

Personally, I find it hilarious. I wonder how many indigenous Americans have ever complained about the name. I dare say that those that found the name offensive were neither minority nor seriously offended.

But, give them some nondescript label since the only recognition they get is either for losing or for some disingenuous complaint about their supposed exploitation of a minority group. Call them the "Washington Duds."

Next thing is the animal rights activists will be complaining about the Rams🤣

A poll by the WaPO found that 90% of the Native Americans were not offended by the name.

Why should that stop people who think that American Indians should be offended from ramming this nonsense down everyones throats.

personally, as the OP

I'm glad that we had some fun with this thread....

just saying

The highly biased and incorrect poll by the Washington Post, supposedly advancing the idea that Native Americans had no problem with the previous name, was long ago debunked. It did allow racists & bigots to push their discriminatory narrative for a while though.

A New Study Contradicts a Washington Post Poll About How Native Americans View the Redskins' Name | Washingtonian (DC)

"But a new study from academics at the University of Michigan and UC Berkeley contradicts that data. In a scientific survey of more than 1,000 Native Americans, roughly half of the participants said they were offended by the Redskins’ name. Moreover, 65 percent said they were offended by sports fans performing a “tomahawk chop,” and 73 percent said they were offended by fans imitating Native American dances."

Why not something like the Washington Congress, Presidents, Monuments.

Commanders doesn't seem to have anything to do with anything.

commander in chief???

Yes, the WaPo study was "highly biased and incorrect", but the studies from "academics" at Berkeley and Michigan (both bastions of free thought... :1rotfl: snort, chortle) say what YOU want them to say, so they're correct...

And who, besides you, mentioned the "tomahawk chop" or "Native American Dances", which are NEVER seen at DC games?
