Default Watching Hurricane Florence -Myrtle Beach webcam

Those of you who are interested, here’s a webcam at Myrtle Beach. Right now (10:20 PM), you can’t see anything. I plan on checking it sometime tomorrow afternoon to see what the waves look like. Don’t know if the wind will knock it out of commission at a certain point.

I couldn’t find any webcams for Wilmington, NC., where it seems the hurricane will hit first (I guess).

Thanks for posting that. Might be interesting to look at this from time to time. Any hurricane force winds show up outside where I have actually lived I am hiding in the house somewhere. Did go through a number of near misses in 2004 when we lived in Palm Harbor, FL.

Interesting. Thanks for posting.

We live in an amazing time.

I'm curious what happens here. It seems like the warm air was helpful in downgrading it. It's hard to tell from the media. I was on twitter this morning looking at various media and pretty much civilization is going to end. Is the basic tone.

We have friends who live in a second floor of a condo in New Bern, NC, just north of Jacksonville. Husband invited them to crash here for the duration but they decided to ride it out (their first hurricane). I don’t think they realized what the aftermath would be like. They’re somewhat protected, but I see they are already getting a strong storm surge.

And they might be out of power long term.

I remember how many palm fronds we had littering the streets and yards after Irma, and THAT was after “only” tropical storm winds! I’m picturing mud in the streets, trees down, power lines down, etc etc. I don’t think our friends are going to have any fond memories, but I suppose horror stories they’ll be able to tell their grandchildren.

Very much so. When Cantore shows up, that's an evacuation notice.

Oh, yeah. The saying is if you see Jim Cantore, you need to get out of town! (Because he shows up where all the big weather disasters are).

Our oldest has a home in Southport, NC, 21 miles south of Wilmington. Homes are on or near a barrier island.
There was a mandatory evac Wednesday.
Their home rests on 12 foot stilts.
As of this morning, the WebCams we're not functioning.
No worries, it's only a house.
