In this morning's letter's to the editor I found it some what disheartening to learn that while we are being requested to do what ever we can to conserve our preciousresource....water, the State of FL is selling 1.5 million gallons per to the Nestle Co. in GA for bottling and sale in the Northeast.

I guess hypocrisy, lying, cheating, misleading the public are pre requisites for politicians....why else would or could they condone such flagrant behavior. Because they know they can get away with it!!!!!!!

Like the author of the article said in his closing...apparently FL water situation is not as advertised and I'll start conserving when the State of FL does!!!!!!!!

I think conservation of any resource is appropriate, shortage or not. We end up saving money out of our own pockets anyway. One does what one feels is the right thing to do regardless of what others think, say or do.

I saw the letter but not the facts. I have questions such as when was the contract written with Nestle? How long is the contract? Have there been renewals? What water is Nestle buying? With whom, exactly, is the contract -- the State of Florida, a private entity, a local entity? Until we know at least these minimal answers, it is pretty hard to rail about the water being sold.

California used to sell energy to neighboring states. As California grew, it desparately needed that energy and is frequently forced to buy it from Colorado. While it was buying, it was still selling. Not because it wanted to but because to break the contracts would have been cost prohibitive. The contracts were not renewed.

Why am I not surprised? Truly, is anyone surprised? Even so, notwithstanding saving in our own pocketbooks, I agree that conservation of ANY resource is a good thing.
