We knew going into these presentations they were going to be boring so the group I was in would have a pool to see who would guess how many times the word "right" was said.

Omigosh great post. I can't uh stand listening to Anderson uh Cooper, who gets paid you know to stutter on, if you can, if you can believe it, CNN.

What happened to the reply "You're Welcome" when I say "Thank You"

For instance...asking a waiter for another napkin... He brings it, I say "Thank You"
He says " No Problem" No problem??? Why would it have been a problem?

Rented a car after all paper work done and I get the keys, I say "Thank You Very Much"
and they reply "No Problem"

Really miss hearing..."You're welcome" "My pleasure" etc.

Thank for listening

not sure, but this may have come from a corruption of Spanish "de nada" which is a polite implication that I would do much more for you but what I did was so small it was nothing.
enter "no problema", to English, No problem..

The cost of razor blades; I find the cost of good razor blades to be
outragous !!!! For less money than I pay for a pack of two razor blades, I can go to the Marion Market and purchase a watch that will give me the time, day of the week and date. Also the watch will last three years and the blades only a month.

A second peeve of mine is trying to find the phone number in the Villages phone book for Lowes, Home Depot and hardest of all The Post Offices. I tried for an hour to find the listing of the local post office. I did not find any US government listings. When I did the number get via another resource, no one would answer the phone.

Thats enough fun for tonight !!!

Thanks everyone , well maybe not those two old grouches, that contributed. I loved it and it become apparent what irks me and you irks a lot of people. It was a blast. !!!! Don't you just hate people who say "it was a blast" ???? LOL

Restaurant Etiquette

Two things drive me crazy when eating out with others. I worked my way through college as a waitress, so I am sympathetic toward wait staff.

One: When the wait person comes to take your order, you have to explain your medical history. Example: I cannot eat ****, it does not agree with me, and I cannot eat *** because it does that to me..... Just order what you are going to eat!!! The wait person is not your doctor.

Two: Treating the wait person like a personal servant, demanding all kinds of things and then not saying thank you or leaving a decent tip.

OMG, my mother would always say "Do you have LSD in the food, I'm a heart patient, I can't have LSD." Of course she meant MSG.

graciegirl 07-13-2013 08:34 AM

I agree Salpal. Treating ANYONE like they are your personal servant makes me want to scream and hit or at least silently gnash my teeth.

I think that many are not exposed to the vernacular that others are used to. I was always thanked by people and was taught to say you're welcome. Taught the same to my kids.

Good manners are so nice because it makes you appear nice even if you are mean as hell.

Good manners teach you restraint and make you act like you care for others.

Being exposed to Life for a long time SHOULD make you care for others. I ponder about that a lot.

I hate it when I see cars in a parking lot that are not in the middle of their parking space. Do they not see or know the purpose of the white lines? Or perhaps they lack spacial judgement? Or they just don't care? Come on, learn how to park!

Dang, I should have thought of this one.. I really complain when I see a car straddling a white parking line.

Schaumburger 07-13-2013 12:49 PM

My pet peeve is related to the litter thread -- one (or maybe more than one) of my neighbors here in suburban Chicago throws his or her cigarette butts into the grass next to my driveway or onto my driveway. About twice a week I am disposing of the cigarette butts. Don't know who it is because I don't see the culprit, but how disgusting.

rubicon 07-13-2013 01:00 PM

People who know me know that I do not swear (period) well maybe in my mind but it was instilled in me when growing up, My mother would be emphatic about not swearing in mixed company. imagine my shock when I learned that women used swear words I never knew existed.

Bad language is so common place today that even so called G movies contain such words. It has gotten so bad that if one redacted every bad word in a typical young person's conversation it would result in silence.

marianne237 07-13-2013 01:09 PM

I hate saying "I hate"..........

gomoho 07-13-2013 02:55 PM

To expand on the grocery cart in the parking lot situation - it really peeves me when I have finished unloading my cart and am about to take the cart to the corral and someone walks by on their way to the store and never, ever, ever offers to take it for me. My goodness you're going that way - grab someone's cart. Arghhhhhh.

I do that a lot. You and I have just never met at the right moment

Happinow 07-13-2013 04:12 PM

Perhaps that person is only picking up a few items and doesn't need a cart?? It would be nice for someone to take it back for you but it isn't their responsibility to do so. It would be an act of kindness on their part.

Happinow 07-13-2013 04:15 PM

Out with manners

When people blow their nose at the table....any table. It was unheard of years ago and now it's a common event. Talk about ruining everyone else's meal.

kittygilchrist 07-13-2013 05:51 PM

Me again. Z trial..
Six Women must decide; the words are getting under my skin. It's like a movie with a catchy number in the title. The Dirty Dozen. It just wouldn't roll off the tongue to say Four men and Two Women must decide.
Just say "the jury" or if you're Anderson Cooper say,"the, the, the jury"
OK to pm me if offended. I'll apologize but still hate AC as a broadcaster.

You came up with another one that I totally agree with.. In addition It upsets me when someone leaves their cart in the middle of a parking space rather than returning it to the "cart return".. On top of that I really burn when they leave their shopping cart actually parked against the side of my car. Ughhhh.

Warren Kiefer 07-13-2013 06:04 PM

When people blow their nose in public, period!

Worse yet, when men take out a cloth hankie that is all used and stuck together.......and then blow like a foghorn at the table or in a group of people......EEEEeeeeeewwwwwwww!!

It is the grossest thing, ever. Step away from the table or group you're seated with, to do that away from others!

Virtual Geezer 07-14-2013 08:34 AM

Okay here is another pet peeve. When in a restaurant and someone has to hit the side of the coffee cup when stirring in their sugar and cream. You would thing they are ringing the dinner bell.
