People when talking say "ya know" after every third or forth word. Other repeated words are "right" and "like" being used over and over in every sentence.

When still working I sat through a managerial presentation where a director used the word "right" 138 times in a 30 minute presentation and did not even know he was doing it. We knew going into these presentations they were going to be boring so the group I was in would have a pool to see who would guess how many times the word "right" was said.

Enjoying reading this post. My pet peeve is the drivers who feel they must speed and are so inconsiderate.....what has happened to being retired and enjoying the time of day?

I hate litter also. And I don't like seeing a lot witten as one word (alot). As a teacher it always bothered me when students wrote it that way, but more so if I saw adults do it. And on the subject of teaching, all the teacher bashing these days REALLY is a pet peeve of mine. It is NOT ok to bash the entire teaching profession. Most of us are dedicated and we we work very hard and just simply don't deserve it. People are speaking from an outsiders viewpoint and they don't really know the realities in teaching unless they are there. (Oh, I can feel the hate posts coming and my feelings being hurt.)

This is a good one

May I expand on your post ??? I hear so many in their conversations add in between nearly every sentence, "you know what I'm saying ".

The man is escorted to his room. He finds many faults with the room. On his 1st anniversary he says to the Abbot while pointing up to the ceiling "bed wet". The Abbot goes about making sure the hole in the roof above the man's bed is repaired.

On the 2nd anniversary the man appears before the Abbot and says "room cold". Again the Abbot responds and repairs a broken window which had been allowing the cold mountain winds to overtake this man's room.

On his 3rd anniversary the man addresses the Abbot again and says "bed hard" whereupon the Abbot responds b----that's all you do is b----

So much for venting.

How about those people, especially business employees or doctors staff employees, when asked a question will give an answer, any answer, a wrong answer even when they have no clue as to what the correct answer should be. It is my belief that they do this so the questioner won't think them stupid. Why is it so difficult to say "I don't know" but I will find out and let you know ?? I couldn't even guess how many times I have been given the wrong answer to a simple question.

I agree

I have to agree with some of you......dropping the "F bomb", even on TV is disturbing. I can remember where one would never even think of saying that word. Now it has become part of a lot of people's every day language. It's so sad. Also, spitting. Nothing like walking and seeing a big goober drawn deep from the nasal passages to the throat on the ground while you are walking. Maybe the guilty should carry a handkerchief in their pockets or carry some tissues with them.

What happened to the reply "You're Welcome" when I say "Thank You"

For instance...asking a waiter for another napkin... He brings it, I say "Thank You"
He says " No Problem" No problem??? Why would it have been a problem?

Rented a car after all paper work done and I get the keys, I say "Thank You Very Much"
and they reply "No Problem"

Really miss hearing..."You're welcome" "My pleasure" etc.

Thank for listening

not sure, but this may have come from a corruption of Spanish "de nada" which is a polite implication that I would do much more for you but what I did was so small it was nothing.
enter "no problema", to English, No problem..

The cost of razor blades; I find the cost of good razor blades to be
outragous !!!! For less money than I pay for a pack of two razor blades, I can go to the Marion Market and purchase a watch that will give me the time, day of the week and date. Also the watch will last three years and the blades only a month.

A second peeve of mine is trying to find the phone number in the Villages phone book for Lowes, Home Depot and hardest of all The Post Offices. I tried for an hour to find the listing of the local post office. I did not find any US government listings. When I did the number get via another resource, no one would answer the phone.

Thats enough fun for tonight !!!

Thanks everyone , well maybe not those two old grouches, that contributed. I loved it and it become apparent what irks me and you irks a lot of people. It was a blast. !!!! Don't you just hate people who say "it was a blast" ???? LOL

Restaurant Etiquette

Two things drive me crazy when eating out with others. I worked my way through college as a waitress, so I am sympathetic toward wait staff.

One: When the wait person comes to take your order, you have to explain your medical history. Example: I cannot eat ****, it does not agree with me, and I cannot eat *** because it does that to me..... Just order what you are going to eat!!! The wait person is not your doctor.

Two: Treating the wait person like a personal servant, demanding all kinds of things and then not saying thank you or leaving a decent tip.
