Enjoy

1. If hearing assist devices carrying small amounts of electric current, like headphones, cause cancer, why aren't the thousands of The Villages residents who wear hearing aids all afflicted with cancer?

2. If wearing over-the-ear headphones were believed to cause cancer I'm sure the word would be out among the amateur radio community where hobbyists have been wearing them extensively since the 1920s, and I have never heard of such a thing at my radio club.

3. Wisdom dictates that you carefully avoid playing the sound too high because of the risk of damaging your hearing.

4. Enjoy your headphones.

Why do you always assume "an unhealthy fixation"? I used the earphones for years and never gave it a thought until one day I felt an unusual sensation on one side. So it made me wonder if something was wrong and I asked about it. You call that a "fixation"?

Remember, you said you subscribe to the Journal of the American Medical Association. Does that mean you have an unhealthy fixation?

Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I think I have good news, VP, when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor in '08 (thankfully benign) the first question the neurosurgeon asked me was, how much do you use a cell phone? Not,, how often do you use a headset.. That's good news, huh? The other good news, it was benign and never returned.

Good for you; I'm glad you had a good outcome.

You did? Darn, sorry for your unfortunate landing. I had a friend who was good at it. He jumped a couple of times to show me how easy it was. He said you have to roll to one side when you land. So I tried it but didn't roll to one side like he said. I didn't break any bones but the impact was horrendous.

Thanks, Carl. I always try to be careful with the volume.
