It is very possible that an alternate programming feed has been prepared for Direct-TV whereby they insert weather reports instead of the reality shows for DTV only. This is already done on a regular basis when it comes to commercial inserts in TV programming with different spots going to different areas of the country within the same TV show. SuperStations WTBS & WGN run alternate feeds depending on whether they are serving their local market or the national cable feed.

While this is very possible, in this case, I have read that due to the new contract between Direct TV and TWC, all viewers will see less reality shows on TWC.

I often see commercials for local establishments on Cable channels, and many times, they end a second or so earlier than the national commercial, which can be seen just ending.

Ah...remember the good old days when the Weather Channel gave weather reports and forecasts and MTV showed music videos.
