Default Did Patraeus Betray Us?

I just read that General David Patraeus will take a plea deal and admit giving 12 books of classified material about the war in Afghanistan to his mistress. He was also Director of the CIA after his Army career.

The plea deal will have him do 2 years of probation and pay a $40,000 fine. NO PRISON.

Giving away 12 books of classified material AND having a mistress? Power sure goes to the head (no pun intended.).

Look for a presidential pardon in late 2016. He was appointed to the key posts under more than one president and was convicted/sentenced under the current one.

Bowe Bergdahl seems to be doing OK with the prospects of making out pretty well considering he is an enlisted man guilty of desertion!!
Hmmmnnn! Now I wonder if he has friends in high places?

Regarding Patraeus; Lying to the FBI while you are CIA Director is never a good idea.

Exclamation Pardon and Reinstate

Actually, Patraeus pled to one MISDEMEANOR count of unauthorized removal and retention of classified material; an offense that many high-level military officers have probably been guilty of over the years. He was keeping his calendar and notes of meetings he had had, notably with President Obama.

He had left the military when he provided the notes to the woman who was writing a biography about him, and during this time she became his mistress. She was a Reserve Officer who had a clearance sufficient for her to see the documents, but alas she did not have a "need to know."

I seldom agree with Geraldo Rivera, but I agree with his recent declaration that Patraeus should immediately be given a pardon, reinstated in the Army and sent to Iraq to defeat ISIS. Patraeus wrote the book on successful counterinsurgency.

It might be helpful to recall that General Eisenhower had an affair with his British female driver; General Patton had an affair with his niece, and other women; and although MacArthur had his wife with him throughout the war, his Chief of Staff had a mistress with him throughout the war in the Pacific.

Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac. - Henry Kissinger (While dating Jill St. John.)

We need somebody to do something against the radical Islamic terrorists for darn sure. Someone who understands military strategy and tactics. Not someone who just wants to play with semantics.

This thread has devolved into name calling, political statements, and off topic posts. Very few stayed on the topic of the General's plea.
