Funny you should ask. After selling our TV home in 2015 and 5 years RV'ing full-time we decided to drop the anchor somewhere near the beach so we bought a place in Ormond Beach. Margaritaville is just around the corner from us a couple of miles away. Still going strong and building some additional homes as we converse. According to a recent newspaper article M'ville is approved for 3900 total homes and about 1639 had been sold as of Jan 21 2021. So nowhere near as large as TV and it is limited in size by surrounding properties. My carpet cleaner guy lives there and says they like it just fine. Great lifestyle over here. Near the beach and lots of other venues and any kind of restaurant you want. Local places outnumber chains by many times. Plus there are real people in the community, not just a bunch of over privileged, pretend millionaires.

Wow, that last line is quite a zinger, lol, but I did have to chuckle and croaked a bit on a gulp of coffee...LOL ! Been here a long time and still have to chuckle at those "pretend" millionaires, actually maybe pretend billionaires in this day and age. But I go back to the beginning days, we had not moved up here yet, but when in this part of Florida we watched the progress and often thought Mr. Schwartz's "dream" which was on the brochures we picked up: Where any man can live like a millionaire. It went on to describe how everyone can belong to a country club, etc. It was all real, and yet in many ways an illusion. Words like "country club", and "gated". But, when retirement time came, and we were definitely not millionaires...LOL...we reluctantly left and moved to the more affordable "north"... LOL ! Been happy in this beautiful community, not crazy about the growth, traffic, and the way "renting" as become so commercialized, but it is what it is as they say. One time on our way to the Alabama gulf coast, we came up OBT, stopped because we'd seen in Golf magazine that Chi Chi Rodriguez, spokes person for the Villages at that time, was going to be here. So happy to have that memory, what a fun guy, humble guy too ! As you mentioned, Ormond Beach is a really nice area... ! As for M'ville, IF they stick to their max of just under 4,000 homes, that might be a powerful draw for those who really hate places the size of the V's.
