Default what health insurance

Just wondering what health insurance plans us villages have.
example: I have blue cross blue shield still working paying 300.00 monthly. When I retirer soon ,I will still be able to carry blue cross/blue shield (@a cost the same plus increases). However, they (blue cross/blue shield)stated I must also take Medicare(goverment health care at 90.00 or they will drop me. Just wondering, what health plans do the rest of you have and what is your cost? How much will you pay for health care? Example no goverment plans va,medicare. Just online like car insurance you pick the policy and pay the cost.

Many, many programs available and a lot of confusion. Be prepared as nothing is simple. I have Medicare part A & B and have AARP Secure Horizons supplemental coverage administered by United Healthcare. There are no premiums but $65/mth is deducted from your Soc. Sec.

Suggest you start out simple and continue to talk with friends and medical providers to find the right program for you. Remember you can change once a year.

Happy hunting!

As I think I stated in another post, when I turned 65, Medicare became my primary and my retirement vendor became my secondary. I have to pay the $90 for Medicare part B. Medicare will pay 80% of my medical costs and my secondary will pay the remaining 20% after I reach my family threshold. Until then I pay the 20%. If I do not take Medicare, my secondary will assume I did and will still pay the 20% after the family limit (I think). But that will be very costly to me.

If you decide to drop your Blue Cross remember that you must still find coverage for your spouse.

Before you do anything, call your company and ask all of the questions.

DO NOT LISTEN to anyone on this forum until you do that. Every company has different rules and you do NOT want to be on the short end of the stick when it comes to health care.

ZCave....

You give great advice....

TOTVers - regardless of your political leanings, one of the most dangerous aspects of our health care dilemmas is the issue of continuity of coverage and preexisting conditions. If you lose coverage, you can have any pre-existing condition excluded from coverage. Be sure you get expert advice on this - just as a for instance.... if you had a polyp removed during a routine colonoscopy and then for some reason you have an interruption of medial coverage, you may never have coverage for a further colonoscopy or any disease connected to your digestive tract....
