None. We have them on our Toto toilets in our summer home.
The Toto seats run $95.00.
Haven't replaced them here.

The one problem is you get so used to them so when you use a toilet without them you let the seat go thinking they'll lower gracefully, and BAM!

I am going to add to too much information. Some of us sometimes, are in a rush and don't have time to raise the lid to SIT on.

We bought one up North. I think it's just a promotional gimmick with no advantages.

Forget about self lowering seats. How about self raising ones?

I am looking for an app for my iPhone that will raise and lower the seat when I am not at home.

I thought the post was a joke when I first saw it, but then realized it wasn't; seriously, self lowering toilet seats? Wow, I've led a sheltered life; what effort and time does it take to raise and lower a seat? Virtually no effort at all and maybe, MAYBE, two seconds?

But if one member of the household doesn't see the need to lower the seat and the other one gets up in the middle of the night. WHAM! Sitting on a toilet without a seat is just so hard to do. Too much like in being in Peru.

There's a saying - "Happy wife, happy life"; I learned long ago no matter what bathroom I use, the seat goes down once I finish.
