When computer modules were installed in cars, I was skeptical they would run better but I was wrong. They run great.

My present car hasn't needed anything except routine maintenance. My favorite because I just turn the key and go!!!!!!!!!!!

1947 black ford v8 flat head with customized interior. First new car was a 1962 ford falcon 3 speed. Wish i would have kept the 47 ford.

Mine was 4 speed, B5 blue white interior. I agree hard to control launch without roasting tires. Had MT L60s on back and still roast tires if I didn’t get the launch rpm right. Had 3.54 rear, fastest I ever been in car 145 MPH it had more at 5700 rpm but I didn’t trust the tires back in 70.

IMO nothing sounds better than flathead V8 and glass packs. Had distinctly sound.

I agree, if you didn’t know how to clean and adjust carburetor or install points.

1953 Morris Minor Convertible

First car was a 1968 Olds 98 bought from my dad's coworker in 1972. Sold it a year later and bought a new 1973 Mustang (351C). Current car is a 2014 Cadillac SRX.

Dodge Dart...Square like a shoe box but 8 cylinder and quick..

'39 Chevy coupe, sick six, three on the tree. I replaced it ASAP with a '47 Ford coupe, flathead V8 into which I ended up putting an Olds V8. Put the old flathead into my brother's chopped Model A Coupe. Then I got into convertibles and never looked back. My favorites were a 1955 Jaguar XK140 roadster I owned in college and then a 1967 RS SS L78 Camaro convertible with the 375 HP 396 having solid lifters and a huge Holley, a 4 speed and a 4:10 rear end. At that time I discovered and frequented Market Tire in the DC area, greatly benefitting from their warranty policy as I burned a lot of rubber with the car. It looked just like this one except the top was white. According to this video only 110 convertibles out of the 1,100 L78s were manufactured. At this point I mostly drive a BMW X5 xDrive 50i which I dearly love.

I’ll never forget the one car I lusted for in High School.

I was a lowly sophomore at suburban HS in Houston TX. Me and my geeky friends were standing in the parking lot before school, trying to look cool. Then I saw it.

A 1963 Chevy Impala Super Sport convertible slowly prowled into the parking lot, the V-8 with that unforgettable rumble sound. We all looked, stared, hoped and fantasized. The twin flags and badging on the sides. White on the outside, red seats. A senior was driving. He had a gorgeous well-endowed blond sitting in the other front bucket seat. I could never decide which was more beautiful … the Chevy or the blond. I leaned toward the car,

At that moment, I realized life is unfair. I would need to work to achieve my dreams. I never did get the Chevy but some years later got a customized, hi performance Mustang convertible which I loved too.

But I’ve never forgotten that Chevy.

An orange 1974 VW Bus was the first motor vehicle I bought on my own. I bought it used in 1984 for $750. Like many VWs, it had an air-cooled Porsche 911 engine. Like most VW buses of that time, the heater box was broken. It was a 3-speed manual transmission with the standard VW H-pattern stick shift, so reverse was to the LEFT of 1st gear, and reverse almost always involved a little grinding before it would take hold. I had to do a lot of body work on the sliding passenger door and to patch up a fairly large hole in the floor behind the driver's seat. I did all the work myself with dad's rivet gun, sheet metal, a tub of Bondo, and 2 cans of orange spray paint.

My current car is a cheap crappy piece of tin that I hate.

My next car will actually have an arm rest. And if the dash and the area under the windshield is black, I will have it covered with light fabric so it's not 400° when I get into the thing in the afternoon.
