True
There was tremendous travel to and from NYC by virtue of NYC being the media, cultural & financial center of the country
Those from out of state traveling from home to NYC & back
And those NYers traveling out of state seeded the virus
In other states
Though the particular strain that swept through NY
Was seeded almost entirely by travelers from Europe
Perhaps it would have been wise to quarantine N early on
Perhaps it would have been wise for the country to be better prepared for a pandemic
In hindsight, it would have been a prudent for the Federal Government
To stop all travel from Europe much earlier
What we have learned and what we do from this point on is what matters

These two articles in the NYT have nothing to do with politics. One article shows where New York City residents fled the city by analyzing USPS mail forwarding requests during March and April. Then they mapped it, apparently more New Yorkers came to Miami Dade area than anywhere else.

The other article reports on a scientific paper by micro biologists and epidemiologists who tracked the virus genetically and found that a large portion of coronavirus outbreaks in the USA were seeded by travelers from New York.

Perhaps if the government had shut down travel from Europe along with the belated shut down of China our loss of life would be much lower. 40k people still came from China after they shut that down and over 400k came here before the shut down. You can't blame NYC for our do nothing federal govt.

Nonsense. Potus was criticized heavily for both the China and Europe travel bans. He also floated the idea for a NYC quarantine which was met with howls of protest and threats to sue. You can't rewrite history. Google is your friend.

Travel from New York City seeded wave of US outbreaks

New York City’s coronavirus outbreak grew so large by early March that the city became the primary source of new infections in the United States, new research reveals, as thousands of infected people traveled from the city and seeded outbreaks around the country.

"We now have enough data to feel pretty confident that New York was the primary gateway for the rest of the country" said Nathan Grubaugh, an epidemiologist at the Yale School of Public Health.

Would have been a good move to quarantine NYC
Interesting, assuming its accurate.

See the 2nd graph I posted? That's from the New York Times also, taken from a scientific study that traced the genetic mutations of the virus all over the country and found most of it had come from New York City. The virus came to New York mostly from Europe, it came to Europe from China. These facts do not refute the fact the a majority of outbreaks across the US were seeded from New York travelers. They have genetic proof.

PS I did not link the New York Times articles because this site prohibits using links to subscription only articles. But lots of other papers reported the same news.
Your first mistake was reading the NYT

Of course NY would be linked, but it's not necessarily NY ER's. A large portion of Americans that were abroad when this virus hit Europe flew into NY and connected with flights that go all over the Country. After all it is one of the Country's largest links to the outside world. Not to mention home to the United Nations . This is the ignorant part of your comment "Would have been a good move to quarantine NYC". Tourest and business people by the Tens of thousands come to NYC every month.

Dead on correct!

Let's put a myth and regurgitated lies to rest right now. After the ban of visitors from China, there were so many exceptions that an estimated 40,000 still came to the US after this supposed "ban" was in place.

My sister came into Kennedy airport from the Bahamas in middle of March. She was surprised there was no fever gun or any form of testing at the airport. She said there were many Europeans at the resort where she stayed. Would it not make sense to have a fever gun at our entrance ports?

The only problem with your theory is the genetic tracing of the virus by micro biologists and epidemiologists which shows the majority of US infections came from New York.

Northeast 92%
Southeast 87%
Midwest 78%
West 78%

The only region infected more by virus direct from China was the Northwest, Washington and Oregon, but they still got 43% of infections from New York.

The majority of coronavirus in New York came from Europe, not direct from China. From New York it spread all over the US

It's not a "theory," it's a fact.

40,000 people came from china even after the constantly touted - "life-saving China ban."

Trying to obfuscate this fact, by bringing up cases coming into New York (which did not have a ban) is simply a red herring - regarding what I posted.

But what about the current salinity of the Pacific Ocean?

What does that have anything to do with your post, you might ask?

I'm just saving some time, until the next red herring is thrown out - to try and obfuscate your facts.
