Why no Dairy Queen in The Villages
Several years ago there were two and then there were none!!
We surely are not the only DQ fans. Why could a DQ not make it in TV? |

This conversation comes up every now and then. We've lived here nearly 10 yrs and there's not been one here in that time BUT there used to be one here. Think it was near or where the Culver's is now. It didn't go well---someone said it was the management, but I can't say for sure. Maybe someone will bring one and give it another try at some juncture.

I agree I like the new built DQ’s. Supposedly the two that were here was badly managed and folded ( sounds familiar around here). IMO think DQ in area would do ready good as long as it’s not on village property. IMO DQ has the best ice cream cones, all other’s are trying to imitate. I don’t like the hot cones you get from most.

Dairy Queen
Here is a recent response from Dairy Queen Corporate:
Thank you for contacting American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ) with your suggestion for a new Dairy Queen® restaurant. As you may know, the majority of Dairy Queen restaurants are independently owned and operated franchises, so we must first be approached by a prospective operator who would like to purchase or build a store in your area. However, I will pass your invitation along to our Franchise Development Department for their information and future consideration. If you or someone you know may be interested in owning a Dairy Queen franchise, please visit our website at Dairy Queen. Fan Food not Fast Food™. Treats, Food, Drinks & more and select the Franchise With us Link at the bottom of the website for more information. Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us with your suggestion for a new Dairy Queen restaurant. I am sorry that there is no location closer to you at this time. Thanks for your interest in DQ! Best Regards, Ashley Fan Relations Specialist American Dairy Queen Corporation |

We like to visit DQ while travelling, kind of a mid day treat. Including the one on I-75 at exit 341, every one of them has had one employee working, that's it. They do their best but it's one customer at a time from start to finish. It's very time consuming and not a good choice for people with a time constraint, or those who have less patience.

We had a Rita's about 2 miles from our house up North, we were there several times in a 2 week period when they were open (about 6 or 7 months), down here they would be open the entire year.

I have never been to a new DQ. I can't compare one to the hot dog rack DQs along the highway. I shared my experience, and that has happened several times.
