Then I suggest that if you get a check, you could give the money to someone or some place, like a dog shelter. Not all seniors on SS live in a place like the Villages, many of them could this money.

provide as much as $1,200 per person and $2,400 per couple in the U.S. amid the coronavirus outbreak and skyrocketing jobless claims...... and aid would be phased down at adjusted gross income thresholds of $75,000 for individuals and $150,000 per couple

When I first heard about the Feds plan for the $1200, my first thought was WHY? We really don't need it - and other retirees with mucho$$$ (than us) in savings, retirement, income certainly don't either. Give more to the families with limited (or no) income now.
The Bill does exclude higher-income folks, which is a good thing. As fate would have it... I've had a crowned tooth that has had 'discomfort' for about 5 months now. Being a guy, well - you know. Finally it got worse. Went to my dentist and referred me for a root canal. App for the procedure next Tuesday. Guess how much the charge is (after a small insur discount) $1200. Fate.

I do agree that major corporations should not get a bailout. Last year they received a virtually unprecedented huge tax cut. Working people paid—or given the effect of the tax cut on the astronomical federal deficit will continue to pay—for that primarily corporate tax cut. What’s the bottom line difference between a bailout and a tax cut? I agree too that those who receive a “stimulus payment” (this I understand, not “socialistic payment”) who doesn’t need it should donate it locally, not to a major corporate (so-called) charity. IMHO, the local food pantry is a great idea. When I can manage it, I write a rent check to a local worker I know who has to take time off from work to take a child for cancer treatments, and because her employer has to hire a sub to fill in for her, she is not paid. If I receive a check, that’s where mine will go. And I’m once again reminded of an economy based on what President Bush Senior described as “voodoo economics”.... I have wondered the same thing, people who rely on tips for a large portion of their income need this more than. I do. I am looking for a charitable foundation, which provides needed funds to the most needy. I will donate my check to that organization. Yes, I will make sure that it is nit a scam organization.

I want to see when all is said and done and everything is open again. When you go out to eat, have a cocktail, get you hair done or a haircut remember these people have been out of work. When the bill comes remember this when you drop your tip on the table or write it on your tab. When I see people leave silver or a buck on the bar after pounding them down remember they've had nothing. OK you can beat me up now! Also remember there are plenty here in TV living on SSI and small if any pensions. That's another reason we have so many different models of homes. Not everyone is making 6 figures on retirement believe me!

Really can't see what all the fuss is about.
If you have too much, you wont get it. If you get it and do not want it, give it to someone who needs it. But' if you're a low incomer, out of work, it could be a life saver. I personally think that only laid off workers should be getting payment, and monthly, not one off. |

Based on 2019 if you filed. 2018 if you haven’t filed 2019.

Stimulus Check
Its for everyone with a social security number. The reason is to get the economic engine running smooth again not just to help out people that have become unemployed.

Couldn’t agree more. My income is not affected. I’ve been wondering about this and writing our congressman as to why. As usual no response.
