Why you never leave high school
A friend of mine from high school sent me this article a while back. It got me to thinking about how our high school years influence us for the rest of our lives.
The Villages plays oldies on its radio station, the music most folks in TV seem to enjoy hearing. Same for the bands on the squares and in various establishments. Some of us drive around in retro-hot rod golf carts. Recently we had a sock hop. Any thoughts on this? Why You Never Truly Leave High School -- New York Magazine

It's OK to not be in the majority.

Being popular in high school meant you were average. Average people are non threatening and talk about everyday things, such as who won the game and what restaurant they like. Young people tend to clump together based on how conforming they are. Talented, creative, and highly intelligent people disturb average people and they reject them. It is best for these people to form their own groups rather than to try to fit into these "popular" high school type cliques. They will never be fully accepted by them.

Depends. I attended 4 different high schools (Navy brat) and have never ever felt an urge to go visit again. Mostly, high school was an experience that I try to forget.
