Smile Woodstock

For those who want to know...Woodstock reunion is going to be in Bethel where original Woodstock was really located about 3-5 miles outside of Village of Woodstock. Big names are signing up to play and entertain at the reunion.Hopefully it will not be as wet and muddy as the first original was. It was a great experience and a keeper. Friend of Golf Pro at the Woodstock CC who designed a Cap with "Golf in Peace" on it.

I have met some Villagers who were there. Mimi for one. She used to work at the Blockbusters here in the Villages then switched to a Publix but have not seen her anywhere for a while. Nice lady.

Sure miss Blockbusters once in a while as the staff there were very knowledgeable about movies especially the manager Charlotte.

The original Woodstock site is located almost 60 miles from Bethel where the concert was held. Not 5-8 miles

The Woodstock 50th Reunion will be at Watkins Glen, not the original location.

Bethel, NY the site of the original concert was 60 miles from Woodstock, NY where the concert was originally planned. If you have never been, it is worth a trip. One of the best venue to see live music, and you cant help but wander the grounds and dream. Seeing the concrete pad where the original stage was, and looking up the hill is breathtaking.

Smile Poster Right

The poster clarifying the distance between Woodstock and Bethel Woods (Original 1969 Concert) is right. Guess age is catching up I lived in Kingston,NY and the distance to Woodstock is 11 miles. In 1969 I lived in Poughkeepsie, NY and that is when we drove to the to Concert. The Concert this year starts on August 15th and runs through the 18th. We lived in Kingston before we moved to Florida and we use to spend Sunday's going to Woodstock as it is a great place to "hang out". Its open market on Saturday and Sundays also contained a wealth of drug equipment. You could get just about anything at the booths. On Friday nights or Saturday Morning's a bus would come up from NYC with a helpings of young and old time hippies. They would sit in the small island in the middle of the village with their dogs and guitars. The village had it's own playhouse in town, the best Ice Cream in NY State and great bakeries. On Sunday afternoon/evenings they went back to NYC. Kind of miss this!

Myself and 3 of my friends were there in '69; it was awesome! Every time I hear one of the groups that was there on the radio, it takes me back there.

Christmas Eve of '71, all 3 were killed in a car wreck; I was supposed to be with them but my Mom made me go to Mass with the family.

They say that if everyone who claims to have been at the original Woodstock were actually there, instead of the +-500,000 reported...it would have been closer to 10 Million.

I wasn't there...but I did buy the LP set.
