Default I was 22 years old..............

I was 22 years old, just out of computer programming training at a Bell System company and on a project where we worked 80 hours a week for June thru Aug. 1969.

A couple of us needed a weekend off, much to the chagrin of our manager.
We actually bought tickets..and left New Haven on Friday afternoon.

Found a back way into Maxs farm and parked in a farmers field. Walking up the road, Richie Havens started playing Freedom. Got to the gate and the fences were knocked down..so much for tickets.

Lots of great music; we brought plenty food so all was right with the world.

The kicker was that I combined my love of music that weekend with my love of sports.
got up early Sunday morning and drove back to New haven, showered and went to the Yale Bowl for the first ever Giants -Jets pre-season game that was held there starting 1969!

What a weekend! Im going to celebrate by coming down to The Villages this week!!!

I was somewhere in the Middle East on a six month cruise aboard the destroyer USS Power DD839 after joining the Navy in Feb, 1968.

Default woodstock music

Wouldn't it be great if the villages radio station did the same? There are so many of the boomers here...and growing daily. We need to have a change...including the town square music. There has to be talent out there.

Default woodstock attendee!

rshoffer - actually had the chance to go to both Woodstocks (in 1969 when I was 17+) and then again in 1994 a the 25 yr anniversary event with my 2 twin sons and some friends... Joe Cocker was at both, while in '69 I lived for the Who (still do!) while in '94 the son's had to see Green Day (and a mud fight)... ps- Ten Years After 'Going Home' led by super guitarist Alvin Lee!)...

Thanks Champion6, what a flashback to think of those songs. You cannot hear some of them without thinking "Woodstock".

We were in Cleveland and planned to drive all night on the Friday to get there but then heard that the New York Thruway was shut down and decided that we did not want the hassle. Bad decision.
