YouTubeTV carries live broadcasts which include commercials. There is no way to skip the commercials since they are part of the broadcast itself. You should be able to skip them if you DVR the show and watch it later, just as you would with an old fashioned VHS.

HuluLive carries live broadcasts but also has a library of old shows and Hulu exclusives. These non-broadcast shows are available with commercials for about the same price as YouTubeTV or commercial-free at $95.

YouTubeTV can also show videos from YouTube. To get those commercial free you would need to purchase YouTube Premium (I don't know the price).

HuluLive includes DIsney+ and ESPN+, both with commercials, in the $82 price. You can pay extra to get those without commercials as well. I don't know if the $95 price is commercial free for all or if that's just the Hulu content and other charges apply for the Disney+ and ESPN+ content.

We are switching from Spectrum TV/Internet to YouTube TV the end of the month because the bill went from $186 to $224. We will keep internet service only. Even at the new price for YouTube TV it will still be a lot cheaper.

So, I just got off the phone with YouTubeTV customer service. Wanted to find out if I cancelled today, would it shut off today, or would it stay on until the end of the billing cycle.

The guy incentivized me to keep my service at the same price I'm paying now, for the next 6 months. No contract. So at the end of 6 months, I can still cancel and switch to Hulu if I want. It's a great idea, because often when one goes up, all the others do too. Right now Hulu is the same price that YouTubeTV WILL be effective the next billing cycle.

If you really prefer YouTubeTV, but the price increase is a deal breaker, give them a call. Be polite. Ask them a question /about/ cancelling, and see if they offer you the promo as well. If they do, you get to keep what you like for at least another 6 months. If not, they'll help you cancel (effective your next billing cycle). Wait time on the phone was less than a minute.

As I mentioned many times, YouTube like other providers whom provide TV content always have franchise fees to pay to the content providers. If you read the fine print in their price increase announcement they specifically say one of the reasons why the price had to to be increased is because of the rising cost of content. Cable prividers have the same issues. Just the way it is.

...and yet, they had no problem letting me keep my current prices for another 6 months. I just had to call them and say I was planning on cancelling and wanted some logistics information before doing so.

YouTubeTV's ad revenue increased by almost 2Billion this year, from 5.7B to 7.5B. Their operating costs are only around $200 million. "Just the way it is" is correct. But the thing that's just the way it is, isn't the thing you think it is.

How are you only paying 56.99 for You tube TV?

Going up just like everything else. If I keep it I will just get rid of something else to make up the difference. I had fubo before and didn’t like it much. Plus YouTube TV has Sunday ticket but this will be my last year with it since the nfl has started with putting games on other platforms. I’m it willing to pay for all of those. Soon games will no longer be on cbs and fox and or the Super Bowl will be played on some streaming platform.

It stinks but YoutubeTV (+NFL Sunday Ticket) is the best option out there - a fraction of what we were paying with XFinity.

I look at streaming services every year and a couple years ago, dropped Dish and went to YT tv. YT tv didn’t have all the channels that we liked so we ended up with YT tv, paramount+, Netflix, shudder, Apple TV+, and a couple others I can’t think of. So if I wanted to watch a specific series, I would have to get out of YT tv and then remember which service had this series. We were bouncing around all over the place. After a year, I negotiated with Dish and they matched the price of what I was paying for all the services and it’s a set price for 3 years plus I got a $500 gift card so the overall price is cheaper.
I didn’t care what I was paying a month, it was just a hassle of switching services to watch something. Plus, if I wanted to bounce around for example, watching Fox business to a specific sporting event, I hit the recall button. Since we have used Dsh for decades, we remember the channel numbers so it’s easy and fast to get around.
Maybe in a couple years YT tv will have the majority of what we like to watch and I can switch.

I think the ridiculous professional sports salaries are to blame.

Your last paragraph pretty much sums up how we feel and why we stayed with DirecTV.

Once football season is over I will try another plan as long as it has CNBC. I spend more time on YouTube than TVYouTube. I can do without ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC.

It's great if you don't mind paying for a company that allows illegal broadcasts, copyright infringements, and pirated content that means the people who created the content don't get paid.

No, Apollo doesn't do that themselves. They just PROVIDE it. That's how they get away with being called "legal." If you're using this, and any broadcast group is investigating warez (what all that illegal pirating stuff is called), and one of the pings traces back to you, they WILL shut you off, and you CAN be prosecuted.
