Hahahaha!

I'm sorry... But NOW you want equality! My, my. So you've think we've come a long way baby? Equality in taxes! Ha! Do you think because we've elected our first black President that the African-American's think they suddenly have equality? Do you think that women STILL being paid less than a man for the same (if not better) job think they have equality? Do you think the teachers in the ghetto schools think they have the same resources, tools and equality as others in more affluent neighborhoods? Do you think the middle class gets equal health care to the so-called upper class? The answer is a resounding NO!

But! People will leave their recliners or the golf course or some Mahjongg game to protest for tax equality! Equality in America is still a far away dream. Wake up! And if I were you I would be careful about preaching this argument on the basis of equality -- you might just sound like a "dreaded" socialist! ;)

Regarding the over-$250K per year folk, why should they or anyone pay more than tax than someone else?

Sure, give those millionaires more breaks. Absolutely! Fox News says its the right thing to do.
Take those tax cuts for all of us who don't make $250,000 and give it back to the rich. We love the rich. They trickle down their wealth to us.:pepper2::bowdown:

What I loath about your ilk is the way you sanctimoniously preach lowering the status of the rich rather than raising the status of the less affluent. Class warfare is your tool. It is the worse kind of envy.

First of all, many people do not see the Iraq War as wrongful, and actually took the time to understand the why and how of it. We've debated the Iraq war issue several times on this forum, and we all have our viewpoints. None are wrongful, just different. I happen to agree with the war, but my perspective is probably based on a different information stream, and not one out to seek supportive zealots.

As far as who organized what, it seemed okay for many what ACORN and others did as "community organizers." Or is that role only permissible for the Democratic Party selected and approved folk?

Regarding the over-$250K per year folk, why should they or anyone pay more than tax than someone else? If we are to have a tax based on productivity - and that's what it is - then the rate should be level and not exploitive against a minority population by the majority population. There is no difference in taxing a racial minority at a higher rate than taxing an economic minority at a higher rate. Or should we start looking at taxing religious minorities at a higher rate. Or should we tax tall people at a different rate than short people. Worse yet, should we tax over-60 people (a definite minority) at a higher rate than the under-60? Where's the cut line? We are all equal or we are not.

That's what the tea parties are all about - equality. Do we really believe in it, or is it a fluid concept which we manipulate for our own convenience?

You've got it right Steve, everybody pays the same $10, $100, $1000 send in whatever you want. Want to start a war let's have a bake sale! Maybe that's why we sent our troops into Iraq in unarmored Humvees, we didn't sell enough cookies! Let's cut out the Iraq bailout, a waste of money and lives started by two guys who had "better things to do" when they had their chance to serve. How come protesting during the sixties was unpatriotic but not now?

I'm always amused by the hatred of FOX News. They have more Democrats who have their own shows or are guests on shows, than all the other networks combined, have Republicans. I guess the fact that Republicans are allowed on FOX News is to much to handle.
When did $250,000 become a million? The rich already pay a huge percentage of the tax bill. How much is enough???

So, the belief is that it's okay to tax a select minority at a higher rate, because it furthers equality?

Schools in ghettos lack resources for many reasons, to include a much higher expenditure per school/student to cover vandalism and security. In addition, There are fewer donated funds/resources which supplement tax tevenues because inner-city PTAs don't have m/any fundraiser programs that work well. Also, city governments often tend to spend the property tax money in ways which line the pockets of the city administrators (who eventually are caught!).

The SBA 8a program still exists, and minority contracting is alive and well.

So,

Yes, it IS an equality issue, and will continue to be one as long as persons are willing to do more to someone else than they will do to themselves. It is always easy to target "the other guy" for whatever justification, and whatever one's opinion is about racial/gender/sexual/political/other issues, that doesn't justify taking aim at a different group.

And you are not me...and socialism in any form is nothing more than Robin Hood without the romance.

Actually there is some truth to that trickle down comment. A wonderful example was in todays Daily Sun. Some obviously very rich person/family has been giving millions and millions of dollars anonomously to a large number of universities around the country. It was a neat story.

Kayaker - What you selectively omit from your Democratic talking points are facts.

The rich carry most of the tax burden already.

The wealthiest 1% of Americans earn 19% of the income and pay 37% of the income tax.

The top 10% of income earners pay 68% of the tax burden. That's right 68%.

The lower 50 %, taxpayers below the median income level, earn 13% of income but pay just 3% of the taxes.

The above numbers do not reflect the health benefits and other government mandated revenues paid by the vast majority of employers...aka in your parlance , "the rich". Just curious kayak man....have you ever created employment for another?

Yoda, your skillful silver stiletto use of polysyllabic expression slays me.
