Ok. Lets start with you explaining the rational of of the bill that was encouraged by the current president and passed by a congress that didn't have the time to read said bill. Explain the logic and virtues of this bill and how it will benefit the average american citizen.

Hi Chels. I know. I got called "mushy middle" a couple of times. Gee. I know my middle does not look exactly like it did in my younger days, but I did not think that was a very nice thing to say. .....sniff....sniff.....sob

I don't show up around political much. The territory is the territory. And the most widely spoken language is the language of Frank Luntz. I am a moderate. But every once in a while I enter in. I get hung up with healthcare. So many need a solution to that mess. Something reasonable. Not an either/or. But without fail, I always end up wondering why I bothered to post. Oh well. I just have to try to middle through somehow.

Of course, I can avoid the political forum. That is my choice. But what makes me sad is that there are people in my life, people I actually know, who become quite angry over things political. And shout down anybody who might have a different opinion. And get really hateful looks on their faces.

And all this shouting is not just shouting down the complete opposite opinion but also shouting down the moderates. And the shouts are louder from the right. What are they thinking? When that happens they just drive more moderates away from the Republican party. The Republican party has got to quit saying to moderates, "We don't want your kind 'round here."

I am afraid that the true spirit of political discussion is being sucked out, more and more. What now passes for discussion, according to some, must take place in an echo chamber.

"What we got here is a failure to communicate."

Oh well.....I digress......nevermind.......carry on.

It is starting to appear they are totally unfamiliar with anything that has to do with DISCUSSION. The process whereby ALL OPINIONS ARE INVITED....as some would have it ....thou shalt speak only if ye agree with THEM....if not it is not worthy of their participation.

Obviously we are too early in the game and the partisan crib notes have not been distributed.

Since when does everybody have to agree with anybody....if I were of a crude disposition I would refer to the position as lame!:jester:

Agreed, Boomer. Maybe my posts don't reflect it..but I am an optimist. I have faced my share of adversity and always could see the silver lining but I have the worst feeling in my gut right now. I have never seen so many proposed "changes" to our way of life in my lifetime. Our buddy above is right...we should concentrate in fighting our way out of this recession instead of spooking our businesses and factories.(and investors).
Are we still taking bets for the stock market Monday?

Every time I come into political I get into trouble. A couple of months ago, around the time of the full moon, for some misguided reason, I started that thread that I called "It Was My Party and I'll Cry If I Want To" because I wanted to talk about the moderate viewpoint of what is going on. Wellllll, I got called "mushy middle." Got told that moderates have no "fire in the belly." I think somebody said I was a whiner because I dared to say that I think the healthcare mess needs to be addressed to give people access to affordable group plans. (It was a veiled reference but I think it was aimed at me.) I think somebody even implied that I sounded like, oh no, a liberal. (Yeah, I know one time I said stuff about how I think Rush and Co. are just a bunch of ventriloquists and are destroying the Republican party while they laugh all the way to the bank.) Not looking for sympathy. I know the lay of the land in here. I expected to be accused of all those things. Predictable.
