What matters most to me is if, indeed, the "cover them until 26 even if not a student and not a home" bit *is* a regulation (as of 9/2010 according to one poster) as that WILL be something I have to stay on top of. Things are a bit complicated since my divorce and my older daughter's graduation from college.

My understanding is that they have to cover the dependent until they are 26 but there is nothing that says that they cannot charge you a premium for that coverage.

It is not going to be free!

There's nothing stopping them from upping the premiums ANYWAY if they feel they're not getting enough money for the shareholders. Let's not forget to whom the first loyalty is with health insurance companies.

Maybe it's because I grew up in a family where my father owned two businesses and my husband at one time owned a business. My husband now works for an employee owned business. They want to make money. That is the point of the insurance BUSINESS. It's not a charity.

If what you say is true, my company lied to me. They said that they were doing it "beyond what is required by new federal regulations" and they were investigating whether or they would be legally allowed to include adopted kids. They made it sound like they were voluntarily going 'above and beyond' the 'mandate' of 'Obamacare'.
.

It is not unusual for some employees to be paid more or receive better benefits than others. Your method of transportation does probably not equal that of your COB. Nor does that of your COB approach that conferred on POTUS.

Your health plan is probably better than many but certainly not as good as your COB, POTUS, Nancy Pelosi, etc. People are compensated relative to their value to the organization. This has been accepted as truth since Adam Smith's, The Wealth of Nations. These are the underpinnings of capitalism, the only economic system that has ever succeeded;the alternative view is socialism communism, national socialism, etc - all systems that have failed.

Yes we will be paying dearly

This bill had everything to do with politics and nothing to do with health costs!

Barry should be using the same resources he used to pass this Obama Care to fight the Gulf oil spill.

And who out there believes for one minute ANY insurance

can increase the number of people covered...hence increasing the cost of services provided...and then NOT increase the premiums????

Some how the notion of cost for the great reform just never gets it's fair share of communication.

More people covered = more costs = YOU PAY MORE!!!! Much much more.

Just wait until the real implementation begins.

What you had before the joke reform was the least expensive health care you will have had for the rest of your life.

Having worked for Boston's Beth Israel Hospital, I'll tell you EXACTLY how it works.

1) Insurance company decides to cover more people.

2) Insurance company tells hospital "you will now take 80% of the previous per-patient, per-day rate or we will not keep you on our list of approved hospitals"

3) Hospital caves.

I'm serious - this is what happened at our hospital and at all the other ones in Boston.
