Default ACORN once again asking where's the money

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan turned the facets off for taxpayer money going to fund ACORN (for now).

WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and Judiciary Committee Member released the following statement on the U.S. Court of Appeals Second Circuit decision to stay the December 2009 injunction by Clinton-appointed Judge Nina Gershon that the Congressional funding ban on the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) was unconstitutional. As a result, as the U.S. Court of Appeals further reviews the case, the Congressional funding ban will go back into effect, and ACORN will not receive taxpayer dollars.

In a previous report, The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, states, "Perceptions that ACORN is a charitable organization are simply wrong and part of ACORN’s efforts to deceive the American people,” said Oversight and Government Reform Committee Ranking Member Rep. Darrell Issa in releasing the report. “ACORN is a political machine that uses a complex corporate web, connections to the SEIU, and powerful political allies to break laws in pursuit of a partisan agenda. This report shines more disinfecting sunlight on ACORN’s secretive methods of abusing taxpayer funds and charitable donations.”

Dont know if you read this quote from Bertha Lewis, former CEO and Chief Organizer of ACORN had to say recently while speaking to the YOUNG DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS...

"Any of these groups that says, "I'm young, I'm Democratic, and I'm a socialist," is okay with me. You know that's no light thing to do -- to actually say, I'm a socialist. You've got to know, actually, we are living in a time that's going to dwarf the McCarthy era. It is going to dwarf the internment of World War II. We are right now in a time that is going to dwarf the era of Jim Crow and segregation.

They are coming. And they are coming after you. And they are going to be brutal and oppressive. They've already shown it. ... This is not rhetoric or hyperbole -- this is real. ... This tea party so-called movement -- a bowel-movement in my estimation -- and this blatant uncovering and ripping off the mask of racism..."

No, Bucco, I hadn't seen that quote by Bertha Lewis. Thanks for sharing. She's a piece of work.

I am really trying to educate myself on the current political scene. I read and watch things from both sides and try my best to understand. I have my belief system and values and personally, I believe in human freedom, liberty and dignity. Not socialism. I don't believe in the Robin Hood theory of redistribution at gunpoint.

I didn't know very much about the group that Bertha Lewis was speaking to in the video. I did some quick research. They have their own webpage. I looked up some of the speakers at their conferences, including the Rev. Jessee Jackson.

Things started tieing back to US Senator Bernie Sanders, the self-proclaimed socialist from Vermont. Including a video I found of Obama stumping for him in Vermont in 2006. It's really amazing to me the number of Progressive Democrats in the US are self-declared Socialists.

Based on your posts, you are doing a good job in "getting educated" for sure.

I find that forums like this are extremely valuable IF you allow yourself to read BOTH sides of an issue. Each time something is posted here, I try to spend some time searching for more information. Sometimes you find posts that only allow for part of the story, and some times that is an honest error and one that I surely have made. But it makes you understand a lot more and reading one thing leads you to another.

As opposed as I am to President Obama and have been and have vocalized as strong as possible, there are many things out there that are just plain stupid, out of context and twisted things about him that are just not true.

There is enough truth to go around on him without "stretching" to find some things that I see.

On this subject, I was called a racist on here last fall and summer because I spoke about ACORN, their history and background and their use by the Democratic party so I am well aware of this group and the sleaze they bring to anything they touch. I just hope they fade into the darkness somehow and this country would be alot better off without them !
