I used to post alot in the political, but learned soon dont do no good. It seems it was bashing on either side. I even stooped to it. That is why I stopped doing it. One could drop a link that stated one side and someone would bounce back with your wrong look at this link. If your a MSNBC Fan then your wrong. If you were a Fox fan seemed you were wrong. If you thought this was going to happen it seemed that you were miss informed. Heck even now, I hear how Obama has messed up the financial crisis. Seems alot of people think he started this deal. Thats my honest opinion.
Like I said I even jumped on the wagon with the bashing, once I thought about it, I stopped. One thing with a politcal thread, it dont matter what your opinion is, it will change the next day depending on what the media reports. Or how one views it will change. I voted for Obama and proud of that move. No way can I see that if McCain had won would anything be any different. I do applaud McCain on his stance against adding any Pork Barrel spending to these bailouts. But again it seems it is both sides adding alot of Pork to the bailout. I wish the best of luck to Obama that he along with all others in office can fix this mess. It was nice to see all the markets jump yesterday. And it seems that Bank of Amereica could be looking for a strong move end of the week depending on the numbers. Nice to see alot of the companies gaining alittle ground, however small it be.... Here is my thought to all that make this an intersting thread: :beer3: |
I had posted a comment previously about the
notable absence of several participants who were extremely active all last year.
I don't know what constitutes being a "regular" on the political forum so I can't make a judgment in that regard. One had said maybe they are away for a while, but most of us know that as long as one has access to a computer, being away is not a real argument unless you are on a cruise some where or out of the country. But as the saying goes, if one cannot stand the heat then absent yourself from the kitchen. In our family there are some very staunch supporters of both parties. We all know each others stand, no matter the subject, nor whether right or wrong. We know what string to pull to launch a tirade, we know what box they will charge from on given subjects. We also know when to put up the white, time out flag. But nobody would stoop to not participating...it would be viewed as a sign of weakness. The few things I object to are a challenge or question about a specific launching a tirade of Bush bashing or Obama bashing and the specific being completely ignored. I object to the Nancy Pelosi stated principal that if it is from the opposition I am against it. And I have a hard time with folks telling me what they thought I said when their interpretation is out in left field. Lastly the never ending need for some to lay blame instead of addressing the subject. What is important is each and every comment is some ones opinion, what they believe, right or wrong...some however seem to expect blind tolerance or you are against a subject or individual. That is easily handled by just ignoring it and participating. I would never back away from an energetic discussion on any subject, just because of a few bumps in the road or because I don't think someone isn't playing by MY rules.. Remember, no struggle no process. BTK |

I simply made an assumption based on what you post on here...was not judging or trying to in anyway pigeon hole you. All your posts are supportive of the President thus my assumption. I am sorry and apologize !!! |

Honestly though, look at my posts and you will see they are more questioning of those that indiscriminately condemn essentially every action of the President than "all" of my posts being supportive. I think examining the other side of the coin is always beneficial in a learning process, as no one person or entity or group can be 100% right or wrong for that matter. As with most things, the truth, if it can be sorted out is almost always somewhere in between. It is funny though that questioning like that described above brings the labels. Human nature I suppose. |
During the election cycle...from Sept - Dec I was on medical leave. Not bouncing around the country working on computers so I had more time. Then I moved into The Villages.....that will wear you out if you are not careful.
Then in Jan it was back to work....so I don't have much time to post. Sometimes I read the posts and maybe make a comment but I don't get to the website as much as I did before. Obama has only been in office for what 50 days or so.....We just have to wait and see how he does. |
Very Interested

I want to carefully chose my words here simply to insure you understand. I have been on my soapbox since last summer, far before President Obama was even the candidate. I did not adopt my stance based on his election, and even there are those who feel it is party oriented a review of my posts, hopefully, will dismiss that. My agenda has been clear for for just about a year on this board and I mention this to you to insure you know I am not a late comer...I am not picking on anyone because of the election. In any case, probing questions are good. You engaged in a debate the other day on healthcare which I stayed out of because of..well, lack of knowledge, but the exchange between you and DKLASSEN was not only interesting but allowed me some room for growth on the issue and my investigaion continues but it is that kind of dialogue that serves us all well. |
I quit posting in political because it was not a debate on ideas or what might make us better, but the same people pulling up every blog they could find to bash some policy or person. It was not worth getting upset about - I am hopeful for a financial and political turn around and want to stay upbeat about that. I decided other threads were better for my outlook on life. I do hope everyone that enjoys the political thread continues with it. It just wasn't my cup of tea. Thanks for bringing up the topic Bucco - obviously there are a lot of people who still view political although they may have chosen not to post much anymore.

Just want to point out that what you are looking for... "debate on ideas or what might make us better," does not happen on the floor of congress, thus we would be certainly unique if it happend here !! :) |
This is my first post
in a little while and I'll be happy to tell you why.
Every one of the "regulars", including me I suppose, was boringly predictable in tone, and ideology on subjects. I did not notice a change in anyone's viewpoint, including mine, after they read an opposing viewpoint. And most importantly, it seems that if we cannot even change an opposing viewpoint in this forum, we will never change the voting in the Oval Office, House or Senate. Unless someone here can propose a viable means to to convey our support, dismay or outrage to our leaders, and have them listen, what is said here is so much hot air. The only constructive thing that has been said on the forum is to exercise or right to vote in the next election. The chances of that "changing" anything are slim to none, based on past outcries to "vote all the bums out". Now I'll go back to the pleasant things in life, like enjoying my grand children or working on my hobbies and leave those that feel the need to exchange hot air to do their thing on this forum. |

Just for the record...this poster....has a parttime job...golfs his share...is active in a number of clubs...just finished a short tour of spring training sites :)...has a wife who enjoys traveling and shopping and is very social thus I enjoy life...do not make any asssumptions because I like politics and pollitical discussion that I am some kind of shut in who simply types on here. I will say again..I have an open mind and have learned quite a bit on here that I did not know....as example...enjoying all the posts on health care from folks who are real and know what is really happening. THAT to me is important. |
