It is a shame what the media did with this story, and we still believe that they will report the truth !!! And since this thread has gone astray anyway....re electing that mayor in New Orleans, to me anyway, was truely a reflection of how people vote ! |

If Sanford was a Democrat his affair would be a resume enhancer. Having said that, he needs to go. For the record, Sean Hannity and Michelle Malkin both raked him over the coals. What's with these politicians??? Are any of them faithful???
Thanks for the clarification of Katrina. I'm so sick of hearing how awful Bush handled it. There are plenty of things to blame him for, but that wasn't one of them. |

To paraphase Bill Clinton, "It's the hypocrisy, stupid." When the mighty eet themselves up as morally "superior" to the rest of us, or to their colleagues (as Senator Ensign or Gov. Sanford have), then they should suffer the consequences of their own actions. Republicans, or rather anti-anything that isn't "conservative, keep throwing stones with glee. That's the real problem!
Democratic governor NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer campagined on moral decency- got caught with whores & promptly resigned. Other Dems have not been so self-righteous, so the backlash aginst them as been "eh" at the worst, except for Newt's clintonian witch hunt. Recently though, you've got Oliver North writing about howlacking in morality Obama is because he won't voice support the popular uprising in Iran. This is from the man who sold Iran 1,000 hand held missiles to the Iranian Extremist regime. Rush- railing aginst drug addicts- whicle misusing or even dealing- large quantities of illegally prescribed drugs. Then there's: Foley, Vittner, Ensign, Sanford, Newt, Haggard, Swaggart, Guliani, Chesworth, Bunn Bolton, Barr...Etc. It's not that Dems. don't do the same thing, it's that Dems. don't throw the stones or act or self-righteous about "God-fearing family values." |

:agree::agree::agree: Both Ensign and Sanford were in Congress and voted in favor of the articles of impeachment. |

As an example, tonight on CNN at 9 PM there will be a "debate" between Ann Coulter and Donna Brazile--far right and far left. I'll watch just to see what subjects they discuss and what their arguments are. Is it possible that they might disagree on the political future of Mark Sanford, do you think? |

This post and the one that follows it agreeing with it in totality is, in my opinion, what is wrong with politics today and for the last 10/12 years ! It is all about PARTY....everything that happens revolves to folks who think this way around the PARTY ! How anyone can generalize like this...."it's that Dems. don't throw the stones or act or self-righteous about "God-fearing family values."...is something that I cannot understand. You are talking about what party is shown on their registration card and condemning/praising is such HUGE generalities. And while I am at it...allow me to agree with VK....quoting folks who are without any doubt, with no arguing.....ENTERTAINERS and not representative of any party...does not make sense. When I hear Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Bill Mahar, Keith Olberman, etc quoted I just cringe. WHY listen to thiese folks....YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO HEAR !!!! |

When "the party" replaces individual thought with lemming-like following, we're in deep trouble - and it's happening. Are we so desperate to "belong," that we will follow "the party" over the cliff? What's worse is that as we as a society attempt to set aside prejudice and bias due to race, creed, color, religion and gender, there seems to be a trend to project all that built-up prejudice and bias toward "the other party." Rather than "follow the party" no matter what, a little more "follow your conscience" may be in order. |
Sanford
I am a Villager from South Carolina and currently in South Carolina.
I guess I am an independent who leans conservatively. Even though I voted for Sanford, we in South Carolina began to think Sanford was a little odd through his governmental actions over the last few years. I know he was thought to be a national candidate, but he has the personality of a doormat; I don't think he would have ever made it. As to his wife taking him for everything's he's worth, she's the one with the money. I just feel really sorry for his wife and four sons. |
