Why not tell the whole story?
This amendment has been proposed in nearly every congress since at least 1989, and probably many before that. When Republicans had control of the house and senate, they tried to end term limits 6 times to keep Bush in office. All these resolutions have died without ever getting past the committee. Hopefully that will remain the case.

I was not aware of that and thank you. I was not intentionally trying to distort the fact !

Exactly! Thanks Kayaker for offering an accurate assessment of that...just takes a little research.

Bucco,
I have read and enjoyed many of your thoughtful threads, and I certainly would not accuse you of any kind of distortion of facts. I apologize if it seemed accusatory.
Sometimes, when we hear these things on talk-radio or other sources, they leave out "The Rest of the Story".

Just the fact that this occurs troubles me. Another example of how selfish and self serving politicians are.

Did not take it as an accusation.

Actually, to explain...I decided to follow ALL congressional activity on a website where you can watch bills be introduced and their movement. I happened to see this and as much as I follow politics was not aware of his history, HOWEVER since have investigated and read much.

I should actually thank you ! One of the postiive things about a board like this, is whether you agree or not, at least in my case, I DO investigate much of what I hear that I may not agree with but dont know much about !!!

Default Bottom Line

The bottom line is that this proposal will never make it out of committee -- and it shouldn't.

But in the remotest of chances that it did make it out of committee and thru the Congress, the process for actually achieving the passage of a Constitutional Amendment is so daunting that there is no chance that it could ever be enacted.

My opinion anyway.
