Release prisoners in jail for small amount of illegal drug use, and possession. Then, fill the jails with violent lawbreakers that use guns. Mandatory sentence for people caught with illegal guns, and real long sentences for repeat offenders. I find it hard to believe that cops don't know, who the major drug dealers are in each large city. An asset test is one way to know. They probably are hiding their money. but their life style is something that probably isn't that well hidden. Maybe we should have a real war on crime instead of a meaning less slogan. |

"It is an election cycle. WHY are not candidates speaking to this issue ? WHY are protestors only involved in the least severe and least problematic area of shootings. WHY is not obeying the law the issue rather than the color aspect of this national disgrace. ? I am not searching for an emotional racially charged discussion. I AM searching for opinions on why our 'leaders" of both parties are not addressing the real problem...lack of respect for the law whether that takes the shape of a confrontation with police or not without the racial component. It was NOT about race.......the point was and still is for me, perhaps not clearly stated, that our constant beating to death the race issue instead of the law issue being debated. We get caught up in race when in fact the issue is about respect for the law. I don't think one poster has addressed what I was suggesting and that is fine, but I sure did not expect to be insulted by you since I began the thread. To your point...DUH, the thread is about everyone making it race when it is more about the law and nobody addresses it in that manner. |

Guns are not the problem in this country. People are the problem. Most of your gun deaths are due to suicide, so if you take those out of the equation and the justifiable shootings, then most of your illegal gun activity is in the inner cities with the gang bangers. |
I posted why the candidates are not preaching obeying the law and that all lives matter and to attack black on black crime, AS WELL AS WHITE ON BLACK OR POLICE ON BLACK.
Well, it appears too late to take this out of the political sphere.....so how does this get resolved once it involved these politicians....everything is made into politics.... "Some of the biggest donors on the left plan to meet behind closed doors next week in Washington with leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement and their allies to discuss funding the burgeoning protest movement, POLITICO has learned. The meetings are taking place at the annual winter gathering of the Democracy Alliance major liberal donor club, which runs from Tuesday evening through Saturday morning and is expected to draw Democratic financial heavyweights, including Tom Steyer and Paul Egerman. Read more: Major donors consider funding Black Lives Matter - POLITICO Any and all racial issues will never be solved now. It has entered the political arena and that dooms any success or rational discussion. This remark has nothing to do with this organization but my observation is that with these folks getting money from the left, and the founders being anarchists, the left going further left and more toward socialism, the country will be a very socialist country in the future with NO respect for law and more people in the streets demonstrating than ever. |
I realize with the new way of thinking, I am way way out of line,
BUT...prayers for your children and grandchildren because their future is going to be in the streets but they will surely be equal to everyone else in all ways good or bad. They will attend elementary school and then on to high school shackled (my words) with political correctness and able to hear only what the Federal Government allows; they will go on to college free and spend most time demonstrating for whatever they think they are entitled to from the Federal Government. Then graduate and move on to social work, if any work but the Federal Government will protect them from any big bad corporations; and perhaps over time the Federal Government will exercise enough power to destroy any of said corporations and then we will have that equal playing field that seems to be most important. And if your race, religion (as long as that is allowed), height, weight, hair color or whatever seems to hold you back, demonstrate, destroy and someone somewhere..read Federal Government... will protect you and get you what you want. Does anyone think that will bring Utopia ? |

Why release non-violent offenders from jail? Over crowding? Then make larger penitentiaries. For crying out loud, it's getting so extreme anymore that folks say stuff like "if you don't agree with my deal, then you want a war." There are other alternatives, almost always.
In the Bible, it is suggested that ALL sins are equally bad, but only one is unforgivable. I don't believe that all crimes are equally bad, but they all DO deserve penalties. Penalties that are strict enough to deter future crime. And studies show that the majority of prisoners released from jail are repeat offenders. Charge drug pushers with murder or manslaughter and either put them away for good or execute them. There, no more drugs on the street. Throw employers in jail if they hire illegals and there will be no illegals because there will be no jobs for them. Sorry if I don't have any patience with liberals. I get tired of them jumping into the lion's cage, thinking that they are going to reason with him. Babysitting liberals in America is very tiring. |

President Obama grew up and worked as a young man with anarchists and their causes, and I think he believes in much of what he is doing. I also have opinions on his "followers". I think some actually believe in the moves being made. I think some totally oppose it. I think some are uncomfortable but are being pulled along by party loyalty. Socialism, anarchy and anything related have proven over centuries to be a failed concept. It has destroyed economies and countries when tried. The movement in the Democratic party going so fast forward to this kind of government is downright scary. I hear folks demonizing the tax plans of the Republican candidates. They say loudly it favors the rich. CRAP. It helps all and does favor CORPORATIONS, the ones with the jobs. That is heresy to anyone with the socialist and anarchy bones in them but it is true. We hear very little about any tax plans from the left. Next thing to remember...NO CANDIDATE can simply swoop in and put in his/her tax plan. These plans are simply allowing us a look at how the candidate feels about certain things. Trust me, nobody's tax plan is going into effect just like the media is presenting it to us. I honestly feel very pessimistic about what is happening in this country. I said back in 2008 that if President Obama was elected we would move closer to this stage of socialism, etc. His supporters on this board said that cannot happen...but guess what. It has happened so close to what I said it scares me. That is not me patting myself on the back...trust me, I am not that smart. I read all of his writings, ALL of them. I read any archives from Chicago that I could get hold of about what he was doing and what he was saying. NOT ONE THING is a surprise to me, and I am not enthusiastic about our future, and that does not mean one party versus another. We are on the verge, not of party change but a basic change in our country. Warts and all, we have done well. We do need changes. We do NOT need this quick in this direction, and that is my concern. I think it is now out of control and as they say "cannot be put back in the bottle" |

Aren't we tired of seeing and hearing about the subject of this thread?
We all know black lives matter for political gain/votes or furthering an agenda or getting another handout! Flyspecks in the pepper! |
Black lives matter is racist and therefore not politically correct. So the expression should be banned.
If I was to say that white lives matter, stating the obvious then there would be an uproar of disapproval. Therefore, the saying has to be revised to incorporate all, and will here after be enunciated as "All lives matter." A statement of profound enlightenment. |
The point is, to me anyway, that this group appears to be on the verge of getting strong financing from a political party or the donors attached to a political party.
Secondly, the group getting this financing and affiliation with a political party was founded by 3 people who are avowed anarchists. The party affiliation is with a party that has a socialist candidate and another moving further in that direction and words like "equality for all" are trademarks of it. |

"War Times/Tiempo de Guerras was started to help broaden and deepen the fight against the Bush Administration response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. We believed then - and believe today - that the regime of permanent war begun under Bush cannot and will not prevent terrorist attacks. She became an activist early in life. Cullors is queer, and says her parents asked her to leave home. She earned a degree in religion and philosophy from UCLA. ABOUT | Dignity and Power Now "Opal Tometi is a Black feminist writer, communications strategist and cultural organizer. She is a co-founder of #BlackLivesMatter, the historic political project and leader-full network was launched in the wake of the murder of Trayvon Martin in order to explicitly combat implicit bias and anti-black racism and to protect and affirm the beauty and dignity of all Black lives.
