Illegal wire tapping too? Let's get back to reality or at least close to it shall we?
The USA PATRIOT Act, commonly known as the PATRIOT Act, is a statute enacted by the United States Government that President George W. Bush signed into law on October 26, 2001. The contrived acronym stands for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 (Public Law Pub.L. 107-56). The Act increases the ability of law enforcement agencies to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial, and other records; eases restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States; expands the Secretary of the Treasury’s authority to regulate financial transactions, particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities; and enhances the discretion of law enforcement and immigration authorities in detaining and deporting immigrants suspected of terrorism-related acts. The act also expands the definition of terrorism to include domestic terrorism, thus enlarging the number of activities to which the USA PATRIOT Act’s expanded law enforcement powers can be applied. The Act was passed by wide margins in both houses of Congress and was supported by members of both the Republican and Democratic parties. |

Anywhere from 4 to 8 years from now there will be another measurable segment of the population which will blame Barack Obama for everything from Mt. Redoubt's quirkiness to the demise of the Pontiac brand. That's just the way of things. The "change" bandwagon requires constant referral of the previous administration in order to reinforce the "change" moniker. No matter what the current administration does, it's successes will be heralded by its congregation as heroic acts of recovery, while its failures were due to "we didn't realize how bad the previous administration left things." It's a great situation for a glib politician. However, this week's hero often becomes next week's villain. It usually happens when the congregation's ox gets gored somewhere along the way, as it inevitably does. It always happens when the "system" starts dipping into the pockets of the congregation instead of others during the furtherance of the "system's" agenda. |
All the Bush bashing and sorts doesn't really bother me but when some folks start spouting illegal war blah blah blah, it's just liberal propaganda not even based in reality, not to mention how it disrespects our troops.

While all are entitled to their own opinion....
it gets increasingly old and shallow when all some have as a reference point is Bush's term. The continual harping NEVER adds value to any of the discussions.
I can only conclude it is a page from the party/Congressional hand book, that recommends red herring filled catharsis to sway discussions and progress from the real subject. I await the first discussion of substance that is not dragged into a polarized, partisan, opposition, Bush bash. Productive discussions contain more than just party line adherence...more than what is read in the papers:1rotfl:....and certainly more than what is learned from the network news barf. One can only hope. BTK |

Are you reading the legislation that is passing and proposed and all the "fine print", etc enclosed. Read about the states that are considering turning down the stimulus money, NOT for politics, but because of the "fine print" that will shoot up taxes and make the state dependent on the us goverment. This is not REVERSING anything..this is a full forward assault !!! |
Outcomes don't matter. They just want him to do something and they don't care what. When you view him as the savior nothing else matters and everyone else is the devil aka Bush. It's called Obamamaina.

I wonder if the administrators would consider...
a Bush bash forum.....why not. It is apparently a subject way too many can't seem to live without. At least when there is a discussion that has nothing to do with whose side are ya on or politics or taking sides...they could have a place to go.
It doesn't have to be very deep and certainly no breadth required. Then eventually when they come to the realization we are where we are and it does not depend on who is in the WH. Give him a chance? Of course we are giving him a chance. I guess if we are not worshiping everything he says and jumping up and down when he speaks we are not showing the same adulation. As stated many times before....he gets no credit for words from me...talk is cheap....walking it is a different story. And until he actually accomplishes something he gets no credit. Now if we were to adopt the Bush Basher mentality we would be railing on about how every time he opens his mouth the stock market drops...but we are above such baseless spewing of rhetoric. SUBSTANCE! PERFORMANCE! ACCOMPLISHMENTS! That's when the fair shot will come if it comes. I would remind some again, his idol stature around the rest of the world is not much better than ANY of our past Presidents. BTK PS oh by the way he did say last night on the record this is a good time to buy stocks and here we are one day after a gain, back in the dumper (I am sorry that was so Bush Bash-like!!) |

Stop listening to what your saviour is saying so nicely and watch what is happening....it has NOTHING to do with any previous administration. (Nor, I may add to anything he said during the campaign) Again, dont let the oratory keep you from watching what is happening. |
Let’s try this.
Ok, I admit it. All these are George Bush’s fault and he alone is responsible for all of them. If it wasn’t for him life would be just dandy. The entire problem with our economy. The national dept. Healthcare costs. Wars WW1 through today. The attacks on 9/11. Terrorism. Global warming. Global famine and poverty. AIDS. The earthquakes in Indonesia. Hurricane Katrina. The tornados that just came through Oklahoma. All government wire tapping in the last 20 years. The Yugo. All computer viruses. Government corruption here and abroad. The rise of communism. Slavery. The wild fires in California. Email Spam. There did I miss anything? Now that we have that on the table, how about some of you giving some substantive view points on how you believe current policies being enacted by Obama today will help us out of our bad economy instead of making drive by one-liners about Bush. We all know what we don’t like about Obama’s plans. What do you like about them and how do you feel they will help us? Don't just say give him a chance. That says nothing. |
Deklassen that is worthy of being a whole new thread.
Excellent positioning of a subject, that draw some good.....GOOD....responses...not the usual to and fro.

I guess everyone has their turn.
When Bill Clinton's time was up, I was glad to see him go, Barack Obama is heading down the same path that George H.W. Bush went, and may very well be the next one-term president. The "it's the economy" will still be the war-cry in 2011, especially when the next round of tax hikes (inevitable, do the math) are necessary. "Change" may be all that's left in our pockets by then. |
"Obama’s reliance on the teleprompter is unusual — not only because he is famous for his oratory, but because no other president has used one so consistently and at so many events, large and small."

I think myself that we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious.

I won't quote the whole prolouge of Saul Alinsky's book, Rules for Radicals, but check out this small portion,
"There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevski said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people." Does any of this sound familiar? The current Administration is making the economy worse to create a crisis that will lead to a European form of socialism. Another thing that Alinsky talked about was demonizing the opporiton. Look how President Bush is being villianized and you see where this comes from. Alinsky was considered the father of community organizsing in Chicago. Now, who else has a background of community organizing in Chicago? Take a look at Alinsky's writings, and see if that is the path you want to go down. That is sure the path that our President is taking us. |
