The cities and states are all playing the free money game:

There are billions and billions of pet projects sponsored by and approved by congress....pork projects....earmarks...special interest provisions...but some how magically it is not available for anything that is a current benefit of we the people. Four dem congressman this past week put together a list of projects that could be parred from earmark and pork projects to reduce the deficit. They were abruptly taken to task by their fellow lawmakers for attempting to take money from their projects. This did not hit the main stream media. And has dried up and been swept under the carpet. Why is this OK with mainstream America? Could it be that as long as it does not affect the individual personally (yet) it is OK? I have been saying for months the winds of change are blowing and it is time for a revolution> Maybe the November elections could be the shot fired across our lawmakers bows. You want bi-partisanship....we have it. The lawmakers are all guilty of NIMBY tactics....when it comes to the real needs of we the people. It is not Obama or Bush or those that came before them. It is business as usual in Washington DC that nothing has been to stop or even slow down. This happens to be one of Obama's pledges to we the people when running for POTUS. And the results are? Business as usual amplified and multiplied. He says some of the programs he pushes that are unpopular are for the good of the nation and some may hurt we the people in the process. Where is the hurt for the business as usual crowd? What is it going to take....and those who live and die partisan politics need not provide party babble. Your lawmakers dems and republicans are equally to blame. The dems and republicans are both allowing the lay off of firemen, police, school teachers, closing libraries, closing parks... What is it going to take?? btk |

Fairness???

It would also be nice if we could eliminate the lobbyists. What are these people doing, except for throwing around money, i.e. influence peddling. In the recording industry, they called that "Payola". We don't need anyone with the biggest wallet telling people in Washington which way they should be leaning. Why can't elected officials make up their own minds how to vote? Don't they have staffs to research the facts? What is it with rich people spending their own money on campaigns? This is crazy. Meg Whitman is spending millions of $'s in California manipulating information in commercials against Jerry Brown. Is there some kind of legislation in the works to end that? It doesn't seem right in a country like ours that someone with the most money can win an election because they can BUY the most airtime. oh... I'm thinking in terms of fairness. Is this where I went wrong? |

I don't know why, something just made me think of the song California Über Alles, by the Dead Kennedys.
