Oh what a different country we would have, if SCOTUS had given proper weight to the phrase "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State..." in UNITED STATES v. MILLER (1939).
There is no question in my mind that the FF's never even imagined a standing military (which was the reason for the militia wording), much less the chance that every citizen could have unfettered access to the weapons that are currently available and would have been unimaginable to the FF's.
If they had, they would have put in some reasonable restrictions and control without making guns illegal across the board.
Sometimes the liberal progressives can't see the forest for the trees. They have become so enamored of their party's dogma they can no longer think for themselves.
The time of the USvMiller decision says it all. 1939. The rise of Hitler the time of Stalin.
Germany had a standing army. People owned guns. First he demanded the registration of guns by all citizens as a safety measure. Then Hitler confiscated all guns from citizens. Then he rounded up millions of defenseless citizens and put them in concentration camps.
Don't be a fool if you don't think it can't happen here. The big push for gun control as a safety measure is foisted on the public in order for the government to have complete control of the citizenry.
The FF knew what they were doing. The ability for the citizens of any nation to form a militia to protect itself form threats to its freedom was based on the FF experience with the "standing military" of the then present government of King George.
Your ignorance of history and the ability to understand it is what has gotten our country to the place it is today.
I am sure the people who supported Hitler thought he was just what their country needed just as the supporters of Hillary think she is just what this country needs.
As a criminal investigator for over 40 years I and any other knowledgeable investigator will tell you she was guilty of numerous criminal laws. Just because she was not charged does not mean she did not commit the offense.
