Getting back to the subject, I will preface this post by saying I was proud to work for Powell. Key word "WAS." He was a good man when he was SecState and did a lot for modernizing the whole IT system. [another reason Hillary has no excuse for her blatant disregard in handling classified information] However, I discovered a totally different face on Powell when he endorsed Obama over a war hero in the first election, and then knowing how poor Obama did in his first term, Powell endorsed him again. I can only conclude that he is just as racist as Obama. That is very disappointing. Up until that point, I had admired Powell as a leader. As far as I am concerned, he might as well have committed treason along with Hillary. From now on, I will always think of Powell as a racist whenever I observe him in public, on TV or in the news media. I am ashamed of him. Any comments coming from him in the future will never be taken seriously, because I will always consider his motive as racist based.

Has anyone else read any of Colin Powell's books? This is a good summary. Review of Colin Powell's Autobiography

I would support with pride Colin Powell. Does anyone remember why he was overlooked or was it his decision that he was being judged by the company he kept. And he was uncomfortable with that kind of judgement.

Colin Powell is the consummate gentleman and diplomat who served our country extraordinarily well as secretary of state. The very idea of sending the man down the toilet just because of disagreeing with a decision he made--even a major one--is something I cannot fathom. "Treason"? Isn't that a bit much for his making an endorsement? As far as I'm concerned, he is still the same consummate gentleman and diplomat, which doesn't mean I agree with absolutely everything he's said and done....

It was my understanding that General Powell opted out of being a vice presidential candidate because of Mrs. Powell, who would not have handled well the stresses of having their private lives taken apart by the media and others. He is very protective of her (just as other posters cite how protective Mrs. Reagan was of her husband), and that certainly speaks well of the man too.

IMHO, there is more to life than politics, though clearly there are many who would disagree with me, instead seeing everything through the eyes of politics! I could never live that way....

Powell proved that his judgement has been impaired in his old age when he endorsed Obama twice. The first time is forgivable but the second time, after knowing how much of a failure Obama was, his endorsement showed his flaws.

He is 78 now. How old was he when he endorsed Obama?

Ronald Reagan was a nice guy, but one of the worst presidents ever, possibly even worse than Bush. He tripled the national debt, raised taxes 11 times on the middle class while cutting taxes for the rich; ignored AIDS, the whole Iran/Contra affair, etc. And lets face it, Nancy was a kook. Consulting an astrologer?? The Reagans chief of staff said the whole time in office they did nothing without consulting an astrologer to see if the planets were in alignment. Fruitcakes.

Not exactly true. They color coded days it looked like. Some top athletes are very superstitious and are payed a lot more than the Reagans ever were.

Most prominent athletes who are not superstitious are paid more than the Reagans or any sitting president. Its not about the money, its that the head of our country was relying on ASTROLOGY to make decisions. :faint:

Let me guess, you are a fan of the Clintons, and the Obummers. Funny how you are probably the only loonie that feels that way about Reagan, and most likely, it's all because of politics and your radical ideology. But, your bait worked. You finally got some attention. You poor unfortunate child.

You may disagree with General Powell's endorsements, but to call them "treason" simply because you don't agree with them?! I'm not implying that I don't disagree with them as well, but I will say that I think highly of the general; I did way back when, and I still do. The man is still the exemplary citizen today that he was decades ago.

I've heard it not just said but explained that the economic issues that we've dealt with during, say, the past decade stem from what the first President Bush, whom I considered an intelligent man, called "voodoo economics." And the explanation was NOT in a political context but rather in an economics one.

Even the Democrats like those two. You are such a miserable person that has so much immature hate in you. You must have been a middle child that your momma ignored way too much.

This type of name calling and personal insulting doesn't even belong in elementary school, let alone among adults ostensibly discussing a subject of interest. Are people capable of expressing differing opinions while keeping the focus on the subject and not being offensive toward one another? Goodness....

There are several here that the answer is a resounding NO!

They are either incapable or not allowed.

All one had to do was listen to Debbie wasername last night to detect the all telling snap responses, changing of the subject and not stay with the question being asked.

She is the die hard (in her case the hard up).....partisan rabble rouser....I am sure she authors the daily talking points telling the followers what to say and what they are not allowed to say.

Complete waste of time by incompetent people.

No, I am not a fan of the Clintons, and I'm also not a fan of any politician that relies on astrology to make decisions for the country. I think people like that are incompetent, and well, weird. But you're entitled to your view that astrology has a place in Republican politics. You just better not mention that out loud, or people will look at you funny.
