Default A Curmudgeon's Opinion--ZAPPED!

Bucco was correct in his posts above noting that the link provided to an opinion by a CNN reporter was not issues-based. In that I agree that we ought to be sticking to real issues in our political discourse here, I've "zapped" my original message.

Read it....not a great McCain supporter as I have said...mine is total fear of Sen Obama, however this gentleman makes his living by doing what he does in this article. I am not going to go into anydefense of an opinion based on no facts but most of what he asks of McCain could be asked of the other candidate but never is...they are personal attacks based on his opinion. Hey, it is his right but betting he will not be on CNN much longer

Would like to add this also......in my postings on here I have tried very hard to stick to issues, etc. I have not resorted to posting articles questioning the intelligence of Sen Obama, where he ranked in school, where and how often someone goes on vacation, being embarassed by our President......There are thousands of those on the net concerning Sen Obama that I have shied away from.

I assume you are changing the rules !!

You're right, Bucco. Even though I'm the messenger who was almost certain to get shot by this post, I went back and re-read the Cafferty opinion piece. He really doesn't add anything to the debate. His "conclusions" are just about as thinly supported as the guy who wrote the Wall Street Journal article on Obama.

So I've decided that this article doesn't add a thing to the political debate. So I'm "zapping it". I've never hit the Delete button before. I hope it works.

Sticking to the issues surely is the right approach.

Thanks...I try to be issue oriented but in the election it is difficult. I am surely not a McCain supporter but find a large ISSUE to be Sen Obama's background;not normally an issue with candidates but he has no accomplishments on the national scene to look at, so that I keep walking the line on what to say or what to do.
I do however think that his past is an issue because of what I previously stated. I know that there are a lot of folks who are simply anti Bush that will bash McCain just on that basis....but oh we need to be careful about what the alternatives are !

Thanks again for your maturity in handling the Cafferty post; he seems to live to bash Oh, and if you ever ever see me quote someone like Limbaugh nudge me will you...same stuff from the other side

Bucco, I'm just wondering why you keep saying you're not a McCain supporter, when you so clearly are? Just curious? :dontknow:

Well, he may not be a McCain supporter, but he's definitely a Democrat and Obama detractor. Many, many negative posts about Obama and Democrats in general. Certainly not an independent. There are others in the political forum who "claim " to be independent but are cleariy not. I suppose its just another way of trying to sway people over to the Republican side.

I am not a supporter of Sen McCain but I will vote for him !!!!

I have said more than once on a number of threads that if Sen Obama is elected he is my President and I will support him. You are not understanding my total fear, and many many others, of your Sen Obama and I think, my opinion, it is totally valid. I cannot convince you for sure.

I have asked you to talk about your support and why for Sen Obama...you never answered.

I cited some facts on the home mortgage situation and you called me "beyond selfish" and said I should be ashamed.

I dont do name calling very well...I would welcome a discussion with you on any ISSUE here raised on any political topic but I WILL NOT TRADE INSULTS WITH YOU. Thus, if you wish to engage in that and call folks childish then perhaps you should just ignore my posts. I would much prefer that you give me WHY you think my facts are childish...perhaps we could both learn, but simple and pure name calling...dont want it !

LILDANCER.....I know you are not talking TO me however I made it clear on a number of posts how I feel about Sen Obama. I have criticized the Democratic party but said I like Sen Biden. I have never called any one a name. I have been civil. I have done nothing but post factual information and want discussion back.

If you want me to apologize for how I feel, I wont...if you want to dismiss me with no discussion on ISSUES, so be it.

It appears that to not agree with a few select folks on here even thought they present nothing, then you have sinned greviously !

Again, I dont do the personal stuff and would appreciate it if you two did not either !

Thanks

I have presented many of Obama's issues, his plans for the country, and his many accomplishments, and you ignore it or just go back to your tirade about how scared you are. That tells me you apparently dont' want to debate the issues, you just want to vent your emotions. Sorry, I don't have time for that.

Bucco, we both have provided links to Obama's positions on the issues. I can't for the life of me understand why you want someone to regurgitate them to you. As I said many, many posts ago, it's clear we cannot change each others minds.

You have said numerous times that you want to discuss the issues. And you've acted as if no one has responded to you. The truth is that no one has responded to you the way you want them to.

I suppose I was under the mistaken impression that this was the POLITICAL TALK section.

You linked me to Sen Obama's website.....dont call that talk on anything !

I would suggest that the title of this place be changed since there is not talk...not true....there is talk from some.

I would love if you could cut and paste those things that YOU discussed !

I guess I fall into this category as well. In the past 8 years I've gone from registered Independent - Democrat - to Independent again. The DNC's "my way or the highway" position on state autonomy and the questioning of platform planks; and the candidate's "well, those are the [DNC's] rules" wimping-out caused me to chuck party membership.

If being a "detractor" is to challenge the candidate and party to back the rhetoric with fact and substance, then that's me! I challenge the other candidates and parties as well;and when they try to snow-job me, they only cause me to challenge harder.

I'm more concerned with finding the truth than following a candidate like he's lead steer. To both candidates: Tell me the truth and you get my vote - BSing me just shows you have something to hide, and discounting my intellect by you or your party committee has its price as well.
